About the band: Aquarium is arguably the most important band from the Russian Soviet scene, besides being one of the first DIY bands to record their own music in the Soviet Union, they also spawned countless canon records that broke the rules and progressed the scene further. Led by Boris Grebenchikov, Aquarium transformed their sound and image countless times, starting as a Folk Rock band who were basically a Bob Dylan covers band (their early tracks were filled with Dylan lyric translations and references), the band quickly progressed more and more through out the late 70's and 80's, the band's live shows progressed from comfy apartment concerts (Kvartirneki) to jam fests filled with dissonant sax solos and fuzzy guitar licks.
I'm beginning to sense this is the Dab Forums favorite Soviet album

Thank you for this thread OP. All recommendations are nice so far. The only somewhat overlooked Eastern Bloc music I know of is the Yugo/Slovenian synthpop band Videosex: youtube.com/watch?v=s4ddgI4aH2k It's really over the top as far as 80s music goes, you have been warned.
When I visited Slovenia a few years ago, I saw a local indie rock named Koala Voice for free on one of Ljubliana's public square, it was a pleasant surprise: youtube.com/watch?v=JANVTC5RRpM
