It’s Wednesday, so let’s discuss everyone’s favorite intangible gal, Phantom Girl! And if there’s time her friends in the Legion of Superheroes.

So what at some good stand alone arcs for Phantom Girl from any legion era?
I like LoSH and have enjoyed these threads but was making this overnight a good idea? Will be kind of embarrassing if you have to make another
Triplicate Girl is a fetish machine and I love her.
I did probably jump the gun a bit, but as it survived overnight overnight before I thought it could handle it
It probably can
So with the announcement of Superman ‘78 do you think the Legion will make an appearance? I’d be very interested in seeing that continuities version of them
Damn mother fucker. I mean yeah I love these threads but I was hoping to have one of the requests done for the afternoon like usual. I gotta sleep now. Please thread live till I’m up.
I guess y’all talk about lore and which character is the most sporkable.
I hope so since they are or should be a integral and important part of Sups life and childhood. But how weird DC’s been handling the team, at best they’ll just be voiceless cameos.
Take your time mate, the thread will most likely still be here later today
Yeah with how dc currently is they have been super cagey with the Legion property. My one fear is that instead of a Legion reflective of the 70s and Reeve Superman they will somehow try to make it a version of Bendis Legion
Thanks, here's a mem doodle from yesterday. Night' and have fun guys!
>Short hair
>group sex
>selfcest
>alien
>unnatural hair eyes (depending on continuity)
She based
>somehow try to make it a version of Bendis Legion
Nah, and while a legit fear to have though, I kinda see DC is trying to set up the stages to move past them now.
DC really should have just shoved him to Barbara Gordon or something. Fuck them for letting him let loose so much havoc.
Bouncing Boy is truest the luckiest member of the legion
Considering the book is seemingly cancelled and Bendis is doing his “I have plans for more stories but am taking a break” cover story, I hope you’re right
You know I genuinely wanted to like Bendis Losh so much. We’ve had many reboots of different cartoons out recently that had made radical changes to the characters completely like She-Ra and TMNT rise. I myself saw them as very off putting when they where first shown, but I gave them a chance anyway and surprisingly they became my favorite shows to watch this past two hard years. So my thinking going to Bendis Losh hoping I would get this mind opening experience but nope. He literally doesn’t take the time or effort to world build or strongly characterize anyone like those shows I mention do. This whole run was just felt like a strange ad lib, again the Bendis boot could’ve been so much more than it was. It’s so unfortunate he didn’t really give a shit.
Bendis only has two main goals in his comics piss off fans and create legacy characters that he can get residuals for and hopefully they’ll be used in media adaptions. Also the book was made clearly to just justify aging Jon up when kon exists
You make good sense of this, but I’m still puzzled as to why DC allowed him to handle this so poorly. Like really? A big new reboot gets canceled in 12 issues from the so called superstar writer and you don’t see this as embarrassing?
Man, to be a Kara/Querl fan, that ship will always be as implausible as any gay Losh pairing. It’s hurts so much.
There's more to the question of why they paid him the fat exclusive contract? I would have had him write some mini-series as a free lancer to see if he still had anything left in the tank/was a sales draw before I ever gave him the massive contract. Fucking crony hacks.
Bendis in his contract for the Superman books had a deal for an omnibus run with a certain amount of issues he needed to fulfill, and considering his run has been hemorrhaging sales editorial probably figured giving him Legion would fill that obligation and get him off the books faster.
So it was a short term loss for the net gain of getting rid of him faster
Pick five of your favorite legionnaires.
Mine personally are,
>Saturn Girl
>Lightning Lad
>Timber Wolf
>Sensor Girl
>Brainy
Querl having a hard on for anyone with an S on their chest is in character though
They didn’t even need to see via minis, the guy was losing sales at Marvel at that point and just switching to dc wasn’t going to change that fact
Oh god that so lame, but I guess if Losh just HAD to take the bullet to get rid of him, then I’ll accept it.
Triplicate Girl
Karate Kid
Star Boy
Cosmic Boy
Dream Girl
True, but it’s a relationship that could yield a interesting legacy character if done right.
user i dont know where you live but its 4am in eastern burger land
so what the fuck
Well if he came to you in freelance with a genuinely brilliant pitch it couldn't hurt to see what happens. Sometimes a change of scenery can help a creative, and new positive creative relationships could form between editorial and him. Doing a mini would show you that he is toast before you handed him a few mil to tank the Superman line.
It was right around the time Didio got cocky and wanted to fuck with marvel, He convinced Bendis to come to DC and created a bunch of new books that were literally just Marvel book rip offs. Unfortunately it blew up in his face as that line of comics pretty much was dead on arrival (sans three books) and Bendis was not worth the price tag they paid for him
>Didio
Even from the “grave” that dude mistakes haunts us all. But back on a lighter topic. What’s a personal AU interpretation of what you want a legion to be like?
it's 3:30am in whataburger land and my power's out, so I'm gonna shitpost till im warm again.
I think it could be fun to have a legion series that alternates between teen adventures with superboy with a more lighthearted adventure tone in the style of like Tom Strong, and then adult adventures without Superboy (with some occasional Superman cameos ofc) done more in the style of the Stormwatch or Top 10. I think it could be fun to have the back to back issues use the same villain in the 2 different time periods.
Reminder that Tinya is a core member of the Espionage Squad.
>tfw you realize that her intrusions aren't just a character quirk, but an attempt to get info wherever she can
>keep the boob cutouts
>get rid of the pigtails and bellbottoms
Mere words cannot express my disdain for LaRoque's choices here.
I’d love to see an ongoing with these 4 going on crazy spy adventures
I want more focus on the expansionist mindset (sorta like Star Trek). The legion now represents a symbol for unity instead of a elite club (but it can start out that way until the founders start to expand the membership) and technically anyone can actually be a legionnaire. I guess to really get into the circle of 30 you have to pass trial tryouts. Have them inspire and share optimism across the galaxy.
Of course to prevent this from sounding like a all too happy future, present subtle elements of dystopia, corrupt governments and industries literally in control over entire worlds, xeno terrorists and space gangsters fucking shit up, and then you have a imposter legion calling themselves the “Vanguard” wanting to revolutionize the galaxy to contrast the legion’s pacifist ways.
I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’re asking but I would love for them to make an imprint line of the Legion with some different variety team books to let different characters shine
>Main Legion Title
Main book and would be the straight forward Legion team book we usually get
>Legion Espionage Team
Cham heads the spy network wing of the legion and we see crazy spy hijinks
>Legion Lost
A Group of Legionnaires gets stuck in the present and has to team up with Booster Gold and Rip Hunter to figure out how to get back and protect the time stream
>L.E.G.I.O.N.
Querl discovers some fuckup by Vril and now has to assemble a strike force team to deal with the ramifications of it
>Legion of Substitute Heroes
The rejects finally have a book to call their own
>solo ongoings or minis to let individual characters get a spotlight
Totally pretty much what you assume I meant. And god what I wouldn’t give for a huge x-men style imprint for LoSH.
Already a comfy thread
#MakeLegionCoom-BaitAgain
Tasmia isn't coombait. Well, not as a character. She's sexy, but it's because she's from a warrior culture who DGAF.
That’s correct, plus she comes from a matriarchy planet of strong blue warrior ladies like her. Pic related not ain’t her BUT I really would dig if she had a redesign like this.
The Legion could legit have their own imprint. There's so many of them, and their setting is literally the DCU in a thousand years, there's a lot you could do there. Aquaman's Trident, for example. Having various present day stuff that's familiar to us being ancient artifacts in the 31st century that have some value was the germ of a good idea.
Granted, taken in the wrong direction, this hypothetical imprint could easily devolve into "X, but Sci Fi". Sure, some of that would be fine, but having it be just DC 2099 would be a mistake.
Shadow booba
She's also a badass.
Would any of you actually consider a non-binary legionnaire? HARDMODE: it’s can’t be a full on faceless shapeshifter alien
>make it the next Invisible Kid kek
Although even Jim Shooter almost considered the idea for threeboot
Tasmia is possibly one of the few Legionnaires who has never had a straight up bad design.
>Oh ho ho ho ho he forgot or doesn’t know
I’m afraid best girl had a bad design once my user.
Yo, Buff or flesh out the powerset of a legionaire you think is lacking.
Tasmia's darkness shouldn't just block light but every thing except tasmia own senses. A fuck you blind zone. an effective heat dissipator, a strong sound muffller, sensors , communication and psychics. Have her be the be all and end all to communication and surveillance. With some added torture potential with frezing people to death. The solid state darkness thing is a bit too green lanterny.
Lightning twins ought to have not been attacked by the lightning beasts but to have lived with them for a year whilst young and stranded. Eat what the lightning beast eats, shit where the lightning beasts shits, sleep in their caves and enjoy their company and eventually the twins develop the same micro-biome the beasts do. Including the symbiotic bacteria that allows them to produce electricity. and hey thats a good way to incorporate their nudist tendencies.
Agree completely with what you’re saying about Tasmia. A lot of the Losh characters have these weak power set problems especially the female characters. They really need some added perks to their abilities.
Although the last bit with the Ranzzs is just a bit odd. Like turning them all into the “Tarzans of Lightning beasts” (maybe I can see Mekt pulling that off lol) might be more over complicated compared to just getting shocked and mutated.
I guess if where doing hc theories though >What if they where shocked by the beasts but ended up in fact dying from the ordeal but the Luck lords resurrect them for experimentation, thus gifting them their powers.
It only lasted for one story and one picture page tho, so barely counts.
For women AND the Men obviously
Reboot thankfully revised her powers so that she can create shadow constructs.
Personaly, I think Luornu could use a bit of a buff. Have her do the Duplicate Lass thing more consistently, so she's a literal one woman army.
>Gim
Israeli culture has changed a bit by the 31st century. Everyone knows that every good Jewish boy proudly shows off dem legs.
What lesser known or obscure Legion characters would you like to see more of?
Personally I’d love to see them do something with Calamity King, his powerset just seems like it would be fun to write
Kono. Brita's funny and a very different kind of Legionnaire, very much a lovable rogue type. Plus, it'd be a nice opportunity to have the Sklarians be more prominent.
She’d be fun to see again
I love confused “grandma” Linnya Wazzo
Linnya's fine, but I'll admit I was hoping she was Tinya stuck in the past. In hindsight, it was probably silly to hope for a Phase thing.
LSV or Fatal Five?
The Tinyas are on full display here
Personally Fatal Five but I do love Lightning Lord
You tards better be hopeful that the investor group that bought DC Comics knows what the LoSH is.
Another book I’d love to see is one featuring Garth Ayla and Mekt. Maybe Have it be like a road trip style story where Garth and Ayla are escorting Mekt to a prison planet and chaos ensues
It really is her best costume and puts Power Girls boob window to shame
>believing in Rich's clickbait
Why can’t someone like this chubby chasing sex fiend actually exist
user, I promise you that there are plenty of Luornus out there who are chomping at the bit to get a piece of that fat ass.
I always found it interesting that Luorunu is one of the Espionage Squad. She can literally be in three places at once, so it makes sense, but I would like to see more of an emphasis on her infiltration skills.
If the the LVS where all better written I would say them but currently the fatal five is better.
I’m praying too, rumors or not.
Why is DC terrified of these two dorks sapphic energy?
they're terrified of anything explicit right now
There's probably a more logical reason for that, but my guess is:
>Male writers like to waifu Ayla a lot, so they force their male self-interests upon her whether the dynamic actually works or not in canon.
>These same writers tend to hate Vi for some reason, I don't think for her sexuality at all and more to do with thinking her powers are just dumb
I'm giving the cartoon show a pass, they obviously are not going to have them be really open lesbians for a kid show in the early 2000s and they were working with breaking legs here because the dumbasses in charge wanted less female characters to appear, thus why Ayla is stuck in loli form.
If they had included her in the cast, Vi and her would probably be nice besties. (I found it so weird Ayla appears in the fatal five movie as Thom's girlfriend instead of Nura.)
Cowardice and salt.
>Male writers like to waifu Ayla a lot, so they force their male self-interests upon her whether the dynamic actually works or not in canon.
Like you said, it's really weird that she was with Thom in the movie instead of her tiny wife. I mean, I get waifuing Ayla, but if you like a character, you just gotta accept when they have a preference.
>These same writers tend to hate Vi for some reason, I don't think for her sexuality at all and more to do with thinking her powers are just dumb
Possibly to do with her character development. She inevitably goes from meek little wallflower to reserved but assertive badass.
Also, if it is about her powers, that's especially dumb. Surely by now we've all got a healthy respect for shrinkers.
*broken legs
But yeah it puzzles me too. You think Bendis would be all for pairing his disgusting looking vi with his nu-Ayla for the double black lesbians brownie points uwu
What's the required reading for these threads?
What honestly is with this design? Like, we've talked about the stupid Ororo Monroe knockoff thing, but this costume is so fuckin' ugly. This is coming from someone who likes Mass Effect style bodysuits, but this thing is so crammed with unnecessary detailing that it's just unappealing. And of course it's green with weirdly placed purple lines here and there so we can pretend this supposed to be Salu.
This should be updated with Before The Darkness book
The ears and tooth gap get me every time. The design has zero aspects that tell you that her power is to shrink, and doesn’t look like a shy goth girl to also represent the “shrinking violet” theme.
There sure was a lot of bordering on racism caricatures in this Losh, jesus
True character designs in Bendis Legion are just extremely bad, they should have gotten anyone other than sook to do it
Once again I regret to inform you I like the Bendis designs. Even Mohawk Vi
The fucking earlobes. Just, why?
>shy goth girl
Toon design is probably her best one because of that.
I mean, you're not wrong. Salu's pretty bad, and the twins are a bit of a whoopsie, but poor Dawny has it the worst. Fucking face paint.
I mean sure while the writing would still be awful at least I wouldn’t have to keep squinting at figuring out who’s who.
I would like those designs too if they weren’t so overly detail, humanoid and some legitimately offensive.
Honestly, this. I don't outright reject the idea of radical reimaginings, but these are so overdetailed and some decisions are just weird. My big problem with them is that it's hard to immediately tell who's who.
The Legion of Doom 3001 are parodies of the LoSH, and you can still tell which is which. They also aren't overdetailed to absolute fuck. Sook designs must be a nightmare to draw on a regular basis.
If a book has good writing or art to overcome shitty writing or Art it might turn out alright but when you have both shitty writing and shitty art it just will never end well
>120975294
God the writing in this is so bad
>Rokk, the history nerd, not getting a Moby Dick reference
>Garth being excited about a Moby Dick reference
Harumph. Also, you're abslutely right, Monster Boy fan. Arune has potential from the premise alone. Even this page posits a decent narrative/thematic direction is the idea of what a "monster" even is.
The Trips scenes are just awful
Heck, you could have a purple Tinya sure, but maybe oh I don't know, have her glow like a poltergeist or something? And actually have Brin look like a wolf than just some dude. Pretty much the only designs I liked are the ocs but they never get to do anything, I'm not even sure what X-ray girl's powers ever were.
It’s a meta joke bc space moby dick ate Garths arm
My poor boy's been cheated by his own creator baka
They're was a lot of "meta" jokes in Bendis losh, like how he copy-pasted the president from the two boot into his run.
>Tinya looking like Hellen Gravely
Drawfriends, make this user's brilliant idea a reality, please.
I know, that's why it's dumb. It'd be funnier if Garth was vaguely uncomfortable with this form.
Bendis does that all the time. He's a classical ideas guy, good concepts with no real plans.
is this the average bendis legion page because this looks awful
It's meant to have your direct focus on Aron which I get, but the artist could've had a little more effort with the founder's expressions lol.
Pretty much
There aren't user. It's not helpful to lie to us. They're rare and over 25 they're already married on in LTR.
honestly i'm surprised bendis didn't try to do a LoSH constantine.
I'll leave you with that cursed image
Yeh, with all the horror-themed ocs he added, you think he would've taken that direction.
More progress on this, and I gotta say my opinion on the design are kinda like most people here, don't like them (but strangely find them very "educational" to draw. The Ocs are just more tolerable, hope to give them a go soon.
Still not a fan of the design but your art is making it tolerable nicely done user
Thank you, I can see what Sook was trying to do here. Brainy's always has a sweater jumpsuit and I guess the reasoning is, "just make it look more sweater-y and sci-fi looking." But all those lines are SUCH a pain.
please user, in HD and some bonuses
one day i'm gonna do a thread breaking down all the characters and shit bc I just feel like we're speaking different languages when complaining about the Bendis Looks
Unrelated Happy Birthday Curt Swan
why does that "hunter" guy have fucking twintails
He's a big Hatsune Miku fan
Because other wise he's just Kraven?
You know a new shit losh issue is on its way when the legion thread gives off bitter and moody vibes, or the fact that op started it at 3 am
future state losh #2 is next week
Still close enough for slow suffering, and I’m just cranky
Showed up Immortal Wonder Woman
thank god no one storytimed that disaster
>is called immortal wonder woman
>is all about superman
Ugh. Just in general I dislike the idea of the Legion being DC 2099. A Constantine would be especially awful, because like with Dr. Fate, we already have several mages.
I know and I f**king hate it
it's funny that books of magic established that there is a constantine-archtype in the far, far future, but that was when most things were dead.
This if they were so desperate for Legacy characters in the 31st century just continue JL 3000
Huh, sorry I posted at the same time as you user, but still though this suuuuuckkks.
I was bored user, and I figured it was technically Wednesday and there needs to be a thread
I feel you but I’m one of the anons who had to keep and make sure this thread kept going into the afternoon.
And I appreciate it, if I’m the one creating the thread next week I’ll make sure to not put it up so early
If anyone comes up to me directly and tell me they liked the Bendis boot I might uncontrollably vomit on them. So dumb, and weird too cause I really enjoyed his YJ despite og fans telling me to hate it.
>Wazzo Wednesday
So this is the new forced meme you will spam for 4 Wednesday and then forget it?
Like it happened with
>The Monday Mongul threads
>The Friday Rogues threads
>The Saturday Symbiotes threads
Right?
eight weeks now
Don’t we still have Symbiotes threads? And if you mean Rouges as in baddies, that’s what the legion of doom threads are for.
Speaking of mages, I really like Kinetix. Zoey has that solid appeal of being a good person tempted by power, and her peppy if slightly clueless personality is endearing. Shame about all that hypertaxis stuff. That was just weird.
What is this gloom and doom bullshit? Even 5YL and Legion Lost weren't this morose.
user, these threads have been going on since december and a little bit before that under a different name
Of necrobumpings
Not on saturday and was about Flash rogues
With the same 18 posters (not counting me) necrobumping it
It’s just a veiled way to have a Legion thread, do you hate fun?
Zoey was a fun character for the manic pixie dream girl that she was, her fetish to magically dress up the legionnaires every second allowed the artists *(cough cough moy)* to just have fun.
>Even 5YL and Legion Lost weren't this morose.
I’m more depressed we had to wait 8 years for such a disappointment.
Clearly your new here because Losh threads lately end up with 40+ posters when the bump limit is reached
they normally get to 40-60 posters, I don't know what the problem is
>you just know zoey is just writing slash fics of everyone in her diaries
Fail to see the problem here, user. These threads usually get a healthy amount of posters.
Do not acknowledge the town fool. Anyway things may be looking down for legion in the comic scene. But here’s some more positive outlooks.
>cartoon show has more attention and appreciation thanks to the dvd releases
>If the bend boot is being force out already then the likely hood of them appearing the way they should in YJ cartoon is even more likely
>Draw anons of different types want to create more fanart of them
2021 feels like the “correction” year we all needed right now.
Honestly it’s more of a blessing that there is no Legion comic after Future State the further and quicker we move away from Bendis Legion the better
Sauce of the OP's pic?
I think volume 3, issue #20.
only because I tried and failed at cropping it a few weeks ago
I just realized that the first arc of Bendis LoSH involves finding a magical artifact, but Zoey is nowhere to be seen. Blessing in disguise, probably, but still.
>she ships herself with Salu and Ayla
Look at those wazzos. Think her mom has them as well?
I don’t think we ever see her mom in the og, I do know og Tinya has a brother for a single appearance.
pastebin.com
Well, the first chapter's finished
I'm just waiting for my beta to take a look before I publish it
Next, the origin of Legion HQ
dumb jean grey wannabee
Remember the blind box toys for this, I’m honestly surprised out of all Legion characters Tharok was the only one to get a figure
Symbiote Saturday threads have been on this board longer than you, you bitch.
What's your favorite legionaire's favorite design?
Remember when Tinya had the guns on display? And by that I mean her arms.
Cosmic Boys Retroboot desgin, I love the color scheme
Really prefer all the cartoons designs but if you asked me strictly only comics, it would be Sensor Girl (preferably without the boob window)
Cartoon vulcan Imra.
The boob window makes sense when you consider she was gonna be Kara
Man, if only things didn’t go so wrong with editorial. Could you imagine if they had stayed with that original concept?
That's an urban legend.
>tfw Legion fan
>tfw Metroid fan
... Can something good happen to something I like for once, please?
Yeah, I saw that direct too man, not the best they presented honestly but I’m taking what I can with Skyward sword hd.
>Tyroc
OH NO NO NO NO
The young Phantom girl and Triplicate girls are cute
You ever notice that it's always the sci-fi stuff that gets the shaft? DC is well known for neglecting its cosmic stuff, and Nintendo actively fails to care about Metroid, F-Zero, and Star Fox. Custom Robo too. Why is it always the sci-fi stuff?
The boy bought to orchestrate a revolution already.
I really think it's probably just due to laziness or just a pure lack of interest from their creator/owners. Like Star Trek and the Expanse are good, but then you have disasters like the Star Wars movie franchise (thank god for Mandalorian) and you mention the shit treatment Nintendo has been giving their more sci-fi games lately.
Like look I get sci-fi isn't easy, it requires a very serious understanding of global politics and basic science, but when handled right AND PLANED, it can turn out pretty great.
I wonder what is his expression trying to convey?
This makes me sad we never got an episode featuring Rokk and Lydda
I love that they are all wearing their Silver Age costumes
>tfw your powers are too useful for the comedy episode
Could she have salvaged and redeemed his terrible hard-ass character though?
I think so and honestly that could have been the entire episode of him being told he needs to loosen up and finally learns to do it when he’s around her
I really should check out The Mandolorian at some point. It fucking looks like Metroid but Star Wars anyway.
>it requires a very serious understanding of global politics and basic science
Ah, well there it is. The classic problem of 'research is really haaaaard, guys'.
>planning
This is another problem a lot of writers seem to have, the lack of desire to actually draw out some kind of plan for the story. Lookin' at you, Brian.
Ayla/Cham was both a weird and cute pairing
It's partially because of the Byrne Superman thing ruining the Legion for about 20 years and then DC fucking it up.
Also inability for the Legion to realistically meet Batman regularly.
We've mentioned Mysa Fate on these threads before but how about Zoey Fate?
I prefer Mysa because she seems like a more capable user of the helmet than Zoey, plus Zoe can already be uber-powerful when she goes full elemental.
That's a fair point
Speaking of Mysa and Zoey, was Zoey still inside Mordru inside Mysa by the end of Retroboot?
This is your reminder that Lana was a Legionnaire in good standing and very heroic individual and probably would still be with the team if Byrne hadn't come along. And now she's a complete nobody in the comics instead.
Man, my whole memory of that story is a bit hazy, but didn't Prime killed Zoe?
Prime killed her, Mordru absorbed her essence and then Mysa absorbed Mordru
I want to say, once again, that fuck putting non-Superman, non-Jenni legacies on the Legion
Rond and the Tornado Twins can show up occasionally, but that's about it
Ah! Thank you, thus she becomes the Black Witch also. Pretty kino design too.
Yep
My one biggest fear is that when Bendis losh is finally over with, we won't have legion threads at all anymore, heck no legion talk anywhere. Like it already feels like the dude just killed everyone's good feelings with the team, it's really disheartening to watch.
I feel like Zoey Fate would end with Zoey and Nabu pissing each other off too much and having to separate.
With Jenni, it helps that a) the Tornado Twins appeared in an early story, so she's not out of place, b) she's an exception to the lack of legacies, and c) she's adorable and has a distinct personality.
No real hate on Future Fate, but we don't know anything about what kind of person she is, so while she has a cool design, it's hard to care about her. I care about Jenni.
I mean that can happen when there is no appearance in media but you know what be the change you want, if you feel like a legion thread start one maybe storytime a favorite issue
As long as Tinya’s ghost boobas are big and the entire legion roster is still hot, the legion will never truly die.
That's fair, I just hate having to create and watch threads die.
>image
The Legion has such a clean origin. Three nerds rescue an old rich person, who gives them money to go fight crime. Love it.
>Cartoon Salu is a loli
>CartoonZoey doesn't exist
Poor Cartoon Salu, having to go for Brainy who isn't a redhead
*Cartoon Ayla is a loli
It's too late on my side of the globe
I think the cartoon gave us a male shota counterpart to her
Hypothetical movie villain order.
>1-Fatal Five
>2-Legion of Super-Villains
>3-Mordru
I guess Darkseid's been taken for all the Snyder stuff.
Aren't you forgetting someone?
Time Trapper reads like he's just in it for the entertainment of it all, he's probably the one setting up all the conflicts.
This week the Time Trapper is *rolls dice* Tharok having tried to control time to undo all of the Fatal Five's defeats
Trapper's the narrator, possibly the secret puppetmaster, but not the direct main threat. Imagine having to juggle a huge roster AND have a time travel plot in the same story.
More like I'd prefer Legion specific villains to be the focus, let the IP stand on its own.
There's also that. How the fuck do you even begin to do a character in a movie whose identity changes every time they show up?
It’s a shame that Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes volume isn’t reprinted, I think it’s the perfect introduction for newcomers to the Legion.
Agreed, I want L.E.G.I.O.N back.
>No more Rogues Friday threads
Don’t remind me user....
Here’s hoping they make a Legion of Superheroes by Geoff Johns collection with Lightning Saga, Superman and the LoSH and Legion of 3 worlds. It’d be a nice one shot deluxe edition
Be the change you want to see, you want a rogues thread start a rogues thread
Which is more neglected? DC’s cosmic stuff or Marvel’s magic stuff.
It would be nice, I remember a couple years ago I started a thread wanting to learn more about Vril and it somehow meme Magic/Monkey Pawed into him appearing in that 3 parter before Snyder’s Justice League. Thankfully no one remembers that story and Vril could easily make a comeback without referencing it
HA! Man, Marvel just had a huge intergalactic war/gay space wedding event. Clearly, DC is awful at caring about their space stuff. I honestly blame Scott Snyder for this.
You didn't read the post you responded to.
I mean marvel at least attempts to use those characters every now and then. With DC we’d be lucky if we see more than one GL book now
I don't think Marvel ignores its magic stuff either though.
I have, barely anyone posts when I do, might have to try starting one at a better time where more people post.
Lol, their only magic book right now is a Harry Potter rip-off, Strange went decades without an ongoing, magic is “just another form of science” thanks to the MCU, and do I even need to mention Wanda.
Wait they don’t have a Wanda or Strange book? That’s shocking considering they tend to have books running concurrently when they have a movie out
They didn't change the magic in the mcu at all. They just explained it better. Magic has always been "the type of science we have yet to understand." in literally most fiction, especially the comics.
Rokk x Lydda, Rokk x Jazmin or Founders threesome?
Strange got a book when his movie came out but he was Aaron’ed and got canned. Shame since that book was good when Waid was writing it since he wasn’t writing teenagers (something that people in this thread can understand). Robinson had to fight to get Wanda a book but that got canned eventually.
We all know the latter is the correct answer. But DC will always be too chicken shit to do it.
What? You didn't like KND in space?
>luck lords
aren't they just regular guys who pretend to control luck? or is there a different version with powers.
Founder love triangle until Garth and Imra fall for each other and then Rokk finds Lydda
The big eye ones are the real ones, the human ones we see in the silver age are just puppet larpers.
OT3, baby!
Post ideas you have for Legion worldbuilding
>Validus is a scary story told to kids about a monster who takes away people's twins
>Solo births are called Children of Validus
>Darkseid named Validus like that to mock Garth and Imra
*Winathian scary story
Isn't that already canon in the og and three boot?
All I remember about Validus in threeboot is Mekt being part of a cult worshipping him
What was the better DCAU episode featuring the legion, STAS: New Kids in Town or JLU: Far From Home?
Far From Home for doing animated Kara/Dox
Elf Kinetix was my top favorite, and runner-up (heh) was Jenni. I always thought those two were cute together
>that fucking tongue that the Moy's always did
Good choice, personally I’d go with New Kids in Town because I’m a sucker for Legion showing up in Smallville stories and this episode was my introduction to the legion characters when I was a kid
It's pretty great too. Mostly for Brainiac and the Kents as well.
Both are just fantastic
Someone posted a Triplicate Girl image in the /aco/ draw thread
Looks pretty good
Wazzobros
Is Wazzo acknowledged in canon for having big tits like PG that characters in panel talk about her tits or Wazzo just has big tits as something random?
I don’t think it has ever really been addressed
Really only depends on whos drawing her at the moment.
Post 2000 she seems to have gained some large cans.
>it got made
god bless you user
the little smile is what sells this
Not mine, but yeah it’s great that we have it. Thank you draw user who made it!
Aw snap, I wanna to draw one too. Maybe I could try mine now with the little cute crown whirl
Au when Lana was active member of the Superman stories
She should just have stayed with the Legion.
I don’t know if that would have been the best way to go, her being a 20th century transplant in the 31st century would just be weird. But I guess it would be better than the crap they had her do in Superwoman
No one likes any of future state designs because they failed to retain the characters original themes and initial characteristics. But I honestly wasn’t that upset about what they did with Querl. Now hear me out, it’s still overkill but it honestly reminded me of something straight from TMNT 2003 with punished Baxter stockman who gets a cyborg body every appearance he makes that’s gets cooler and more disturbed. I kinda would’ve been fine if they considered this instead of a “nanodragon shapeshifter” but that’s just my two sense on the matter.
Not like they didn't have plenty of time-displaced people anyway
Honestly your idea is definitely better than what we got
just use leonna lang instead. Its a cool powerset.
Goddamn, the ships fro the cartoon are cool.
I'm honestly surprised there's never been a Legionnaire who's an Aya-esque spaceship A.I. Closest was Fortress Lad, but he was neither a ship, nor a QT A.I waifu.
Why bother? Lana is right there and not being used for anything for the last 20 years or so.
Really thinking of drawing fanart of that ship, it’s just so nice and kino looking.
Do it user, any new art of the Legion is welcome
Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl make such a cute couple
>naughty sweetheart x gold-hearted bad boy
Simple math, really.
>honestly blame Scott Snyder for this.
And yet JL:O was the only "space" book that wasn't called GL that did not get canned in 10 issues in over a decade
the problem is that it was incredibly boring
I feel bad for Abnett he can only do so much salvaging of something so inherently bad
I suspect that's because Starfire and Darkseid were in it. Doubtful anything that spun out of No Justice was any good.
I really don’t think trapping Lana in the future and sticking her with the Legion is fair to both her character or the legion
Is that actually ALL of them?
I mean I think so but with how large the cast is it is hard to tell
>get rejected from the group
>beat the shit out of everyone to prove you belong in the group
I can just imagine that scene from Endgame, but with the Legion. EVERYONE IS HERE.
>I can just imagine that scene from Endgame, but with the Legion. EVERYONE IS HERE.
Oh my god I just realized something that has been bugging me since I saw that scene. It was exactly like in Legion of 3 Worlds they go up against Trapper
It's similar, sure. Standard 'all the heroes gather' kind of thing.
Also.
>Rokk semi-whispering "Long Live the Legion"
>everyone charges
Let's say the Legion plays DnD, who'd be the best Dungeon Master? We all know Rokk would be the worst because he'd make then play with pen and paper for a more authentic 21st Century experience
I think Kinetix would probably be a good DM
Yep with Jac missing though but I’m not that mad about it.
Not necessarily Legion related but I’m a bit sad that DC All Star Games show didn’t take off and DC Heroes didn’t get a boost in popularity
At first, everyone figures Querl should DM, then he opens his mouth and they ask Gear to do it instead.
>We all know Rokk would be the worst because he'd make then play with pen and paper for a more authentic 21st Century experience
I do love the idea that Rokk is such a history nerd, he goes a bit hipster with it.
Now I can’t help but think that Elseworlds Annual was in fact them just playing D&D
Hot take
>I think Imra’s 70’s outfit suits her
>Linnya never really thought about Superman before
>but after hearing about the wild future sex adventures she's interested
Explain.
Tinya's making up those stories. Clark is a good Christian boy.
It does have its charm doesn’t it?
They're eyeing him up
>Still keeps the Saturn aesthetic
>her long perm hair is CUTE
>that rump can’t lie
That look Triplicate Girl and Phantom Girl are giving Clark
Kek but look at incel Querl seething in the background
>Gary Frank
Yeah yeah, his faces can get weird but he is a damn good artist and he draws one hell of a superman
>We won the right
Did the legion of superheroes have trial-by-combat as an option for joining, or something?
No, these guys were just retards
Like, Micro Lad and Phantom Lad or whatever he was called figured they should replace Vi and Tinya just cause they were guys and that meant they were better
Well each Legionnaire got inducted into the Legion differently, some kinda just joined, others had tryouts, others proved themselves useful on a mission
They even beat the shit out of one the founders, how the hell do you believe beating up one of the judges gets you instant membership?
link dead
rip
user its not his fault his gfs/bfs keep dying
nah, they just didn't link it right.
Add >>/aco or something around that number
They don't always die. Sometimes they become nuns.
>why DC doesn't care for cosmic

Also here's some added Threeboot into Retroboot sales figures for LoSH
How’s the Bend boot doing? Surely it wasn’t doing so bad it justified canceling.
We don't really know. When DC cut themselves off from Diamond in April 2020, the regular sales data stopped.
This is what we had as of March 2020
09/2019: Millennium #1 of 2 -- 48,389 (+231.4%)
10/2019: Millennium #2 of 2 -- 39,489 (- 18.4%)
11/2019: Legion of S-H #1 -- 75,611 (+ 91.5%)
12/2019: Legion of S-H #2 -- 39,218 (- 48.1%)
01/2020: Legion of S-H #3 -- 34,732 (- 11.4%)
02/2020: Legion of S-H #4 -- 30,675 (- 11.7%)
03/2020: Legion of S-H #5 -- 29,058 (- 5.3%)
That’s understandable, honestly i would’ve much prefer they kept his legion around but give them a better writer. This throw the new baby overboard approach isn’t going really help Losh in the long run.
It literally was. Under 30k by issue 5
It sold extremely low, even by LoSH standards
No one has really taken to any of the designs or the world that Bendis set up, they would be better off starting fresh instead of continuing
Bendis says that fans love the redesigns. Course he’s saying it, so obviously they don’t. Why can’t he just be a normal person and not have such a big ego about this, god. I honestly never wanted to ever hate the guy but it feels like he just wants people to dislike him.
> they would be better off starting fresh instead of continuing
Probably your right, that’s for the best now it seems. I genuinely wonder (with slight dread) how they’ll repair everything though.
Honestly give the legion to either Johns or Hickman, they are the only two that seem like they have genuine love for the franchise
You are correct.
>Who’s that dude we rejected that had a edgy dream legion of superheroes pitch but it also had plans of a complex over arching story with sex galore?
>Oh yeah, isn’t that the dude writing that gang buster X-men run currently that’s preforming better than most of our books, what’s his name...Jonathan Hicksmam or something?
Did they reject Hickman? I thought his LoSH shit was just a rumor. Seems to me that DC would jump at the chance to add Hickman to the company, I'd wager that Hickman wanted an exclusive deal and they couldn't pay him because AT&T are cheap faggots
Hickman was mia from Big two from the end of 2015-2018.
They tried to get him before AT&T bought WB
Honestly yeah they’ve just been dropping the ball a lot lately. Honestly his pitch was rejected because of Paul and Keith heard about it and where pissed at how edgy it was despite these being the same fucks that had Tinya cannibalizes Sun boy so I don’t get what they’re issue was. From what I heard from the pitch itself.
>It’s the OG legion
>Mon-el is a clone experiment created by a insane Brainy that wants to reform the legion but in unethical means
>Founders dies but he’s probably cloning them too
>Lots of coom
Hickman Legion: "The Fatal Five and Mordru are now part of the Legion, they're good guys who dindu nuffin!!!"
Wasn’t the fatal five first appearance had them working together with legion to stop the sun eater? Albeit temporarily obviously.
You can’t redeem the Fatal Five but you could fix Mordru up by purging the evil from him magically, or have him still be evil but with added complexity, he’s functions more like a neutral ruler of his own realm. As long as the UP doesn’t fuck with him, he doesn’t fuck with them.
Mordru should really be the kind of guy that will fuck over both heroes and villains for his own benefit
A emerald empress member and a validus under Garth and Imra’s care sounds cool actually.
I think Mekt might also be a good character to help his brother and sister if need be
I've just never seen any legitimate confirmation there was even a pitch. I also highly doubt Levitz has any influence after being ousted as president.
Eh if that’s the take I can kinda see why they didn’t do it
Still sounds a whole lot more compelling that what we got stuck with instead.
I just want LoSH to be space opera with superheroes. I was doing that shit 8 years before Star Trek, dammit!
We all do, but I guess we have to wait a bit longer for it.
Oh it would definitely be better than what we got but I can see why they passed on it
The Legion has (or had, a dozen reboots ago) a rule that powers must be innate; not stemming from some gadget.
............................................The Emerald Empress wouldn't qualify (even if she wasn't 100% evil)
............................................Nor a "Dial H" user (I seem to recall a little girl had the dial in the 31st century, but the Legion didn't know that)
............................................The Elongated Man has to drink something (but Plastic Man would be acceptable)
............................................And Lana's insect powers come from a ring
>Dial for H girl
Hey, Lori morning was pretty interesting. She even became the reboots time trapper.
Little wonder, really. Lori was so blatantly meant to be Glorith, it wasn't even funny.
I like her character design
Which one? She had quite a few.
What's the essential reading to set myself up for the 5YL?
oh yeah thats right you have to add the board thank you user
>>/aco/5008638
>i forgot the third arrow
Nothing specific aside from the first Time Trapper story, Adventure Comics #317, where Glorith also first appears.
And yes, this is what she looks like. Because when you're a crazy time witch, chrome thigh boots are just obvious.
I did not know that, good to know
Oh wait, I'm dumb. Glorith actually first appears in Adventure Comics #338. Sorry about that.
well it would help to like have a good idea of what the Legion normally is to set up the contrast. A bunch of the Silver Age stories and the Levitz Giffen stuff at the least.
We should figure out like a best of the Silver Age to easily rec people. and then convince DC to reprint it as like an introductory book for the Legion. and then keep doing it for different Legion eras.
>want to see Jen Bartel draw the Legion forever
>get this
jesus christ i don't even
I mean we are lucky they continued reprinting the 70’s-80’s run with Before Darkness, getting them to reprint other legion runs seems like it’ll be an extremely large task
NONE OF VOLUME 3 IS IN PRINT
IT'S INSANE
I can't find the ad I want which is the cover to vol 3 number 1
Talent like her is wasted on this trash.
Would love to see how the family reunion would go.
Here ya go and yeah, I just want them to finish collecting the Reboot stuff for fuck sake
Should I search ebay for these trading cards?
Y/Y
yeah the Reboot collections stuff is annoying because they actually started and it's more complex bc of the two series.
>Would love to see how the family reunion would go.
As I said earlier I had an idea for a book featuring Garth, Ayla and Mekt that was essentially Midnight Run in space
Well there's the Sun-Eater saga, naturally. Zaryan the Conqueror, One of Us is a Traitor, Mordru the Merciless, the Silver Age Lightning Saga...
>convince DC to reprint it as like an introductory book for the Legion. and then keep doing it for different Legion eras.
Sadly not happening. DC gives about as much of a shit about LoSH as Nintendo does about Metroid.
>Sadly not happening. DC gives about as much of a shit about LoSH as Nintendo does about Metroid.
It’s amazing that they even continued to collect the 70s run, I just hope they finish it off for once
Has anyone ever tried asking Johns what Glorith II's deal was supposed to be?
Did they do Earthwar at least? Cause it'd be kind of insulting if they stopped before one of the big ones.
Of all legion runs that will probably not collected The Tv Show based one will probably never get collected but it would be cool considering the series just came out on Bluray and it would be the most accessible run for kids to get interested in the characters
For comic/cartoons tie ins go, this was pretty good.
The early 2000s kid comics were all pretty great this and JLU were the standouts
>Did they do Earthwar at least? Cause it'd be kind of insulting if they stopped before one of the big ones.
That actually got collected in Superboy and The Legion of Superheroes vol 2 which collects SB & The LoSH #241-258, LoSH #259 and DC Comics Presents #13-14
yeah. also it's a thing that I want for most of the big characters that the big 2 won't make. curated stories in cheap thick paperbacks to give to kids to introduce them to the characters.
marvel essentials were basically this but DC's Showcases aren't as good bc DC just wasn't built the same way. like how you can recommend runs at marvel but not at DC. the silver age stuff you can start at the start bc of Stan and Jack and Ditko but DC isn't like that.
i think Glorith 2 was Levitz but yes the main non fanboy reason I kept reading nu52 Legion was to find out her deal.
has everything been reprinted recently up to Great Darkness besides the contents of the last few archives? or do we have a few more "Before the Darkness" volumes?
there's at least one paperback collection but i think it's random issues. I've got it somewhere
>curated stories in cheap thick paperbacks to give to kids to introduce them to the characters.
It's not a bad idea. Goodness knows the big two needs something to actually advertise their stuff.
>i think Glorith 2 was Levitz but yes the main non fanboy reason I kept reading nu52 Legion was to find out her deal.
It's damn shame that run went to shit like it did. Granted, it was a bit iffy to me from the off, but it wasn't terrible until near the end.
These are the three volumes currently in print, on the back of Before Darkness it says it’s part 1 of a 2 part collection
this page for the immediate background to 5YL
And here are the other two collections of the series, unfortunately they are currently out of print
Also made one of these for Legionnaires vol 1 & 2
And the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning collections
I love Moy's art so much. These covers really showcase the talent, cause it's often hard to make a mundane group shot dynamic and interesting.
pretty misleading cover for Legion Lost
When I was a kid it definitely caught my eye a lot on the comic racks
I mean it was literally the cover for one of the issues
>Has anyone ever tried asking Johns what Glorith II's deal was supposed to be?
I just assumed she was a reborn Glorith who was purified of the bad Mordru touch.
I wonder if we’ll ever get Deluxe collections of Threeboot, it’s one of the easier runs to collect and it would only be about 4 volumes
Probably, but it would be nice to actually get that story.
12th level spaghetti.
Yera is underrated.
>young romance
>chuck dixon
Hooo boy bet that's a shitshow
If I remember correctly it wasn’t that bad, but it was the Peyer story that was the standout
>12th level spaghetti.
It’s always fun to see Brainy lose his shit when a blonde is involved
necrobump before i go to sleep
see yall next week
>talking shit about the Subs
Probably the worst thing about 5YL is that Giffen never understood the Subs at all. The Bierbaums either of course but they never understood anything about the Legion.
It's not like there's much to get either. They're a "losers" club who manage to be genuine heroes despite their less than stellar powers. It's basic success with disability stuff. Sure, they're comedic, but end of the day, they're still Legionnaires brave and noble as any. I don't really see how anyone can miss that point.
yea maybe giffen thinks that's dumb but he also wrote a lot of G'Nort comics so idek
>lOl teHy arE duBm chARucteRS
I wondered if artists around that time thought she was a legacy character for Phantom Lady who was getting a bit more attention, or made a subconscious connection
Never can understand this kind of thinking. If you think the characters are dumb to you... wouldn’t you “fix” them to make them not for you?
Kind of a random idea but maybe.
I got to say I like the artist but I think she jumped too early on the legion hype train. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know what’s just tragically happened with them yet.
Mocking the Post Zero Hour Designs while using Sooks designs? This is some oblivious dumb shit
To be fair, they’re only understanding of Losh was from the CW supergirl show. And since they’re literally the only one that draws Bendis boot fanart, it says a lot.
>Dab Forums tries to convince you Imra's pink bikini is cringe and too sexualized
>it turns out to actually be kino
Way better then Rokk’s. And honestly if you just switch the colors to black and give her a cape. She’ll look like a white blonde Storm. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Oh that is a bad introduction to the legion, no wonder
I think it works fine in pink or even red.
hey hey now, I draw bendis boot "fanart" too. Just more slowly.
But you at least have the clarity to know it’s bad designs, from the sound of it this person doesn’t
Yera's still cute in Retroboot, but I don't like that they gave her hair. Hurr hurr she girl, girls not bald. Lame.
To be fare she can change her form however she likes, maybe this version likes having hair
Possibly. Bald is still beautiful though.
Definitely, her bald design reminds me a lot of the girl from the first Star Trek movie
Bald really would’ve been better desu
Eh, give them like a year I’m sure they’ll realize how utterly of a mistake the Bendis boot was. At least they’re reading the better Losh runs. To me, more Losh fans the better.
True
>your brother was also tormented and turned into a rampaging monster by a dark god you little terp.
And it’s so weird he’s complains about a fucking containment suit, like enjoy the fact you’re running around with a half naked changling
Reminder that Yera was accepted by Gim's parents just fine. But they still insisted the kids be raised Jewish.
>go hang out with Uncle Mekt
Uh, yeah, he's all reformed at this point, but that's still a bit of a questionable idea.
Luciano Vecchio is a good artist. Shame he got such negative feedback for that stupid woke nu-warriors garbage but his jumping back pleases me.
It’s kinda like Sook, he’s a good artist but definitely not a good character designer
I mean Vecchio is an extreme SJW but his art is fine.
Why was the idea rejected? Probably would've been great.
The fact he has yet to draw any fanart from the "woke" Bendis boot shows he can't be that bad and he's smart enough to know it has glaring racial and queer eraser issues.
Are you referring to the idea that he was supposed to be RJ? I personally don't like that headcanon at all and would much prefer the idea of him being a Durlan that becomes the father figure of Dox and guardain for Querl.
Cute pale moth lady
Definitely
