I've hated that design choice since childhood. Cartoon eyes should be large and expressive, not beady. Dot eyes are ugly and make characters look like soulless NPCs, they only look good on cute animal mascot characters (like bunnies). Apparently, they also don't mesh well with beanface.

This said, I do think it's a common opinion, since large eyes are considered universally attractive IRL and are ubiquitous in cartoons. There's a reason why eyes are called "windows to the soul". Dot eyes make a poor job of reflecting character's emotions, which makes them look ugly/creepy on humanoid characters.

Star saw through the controversial history between Mewmans and Monsters, and Luz managed to learn spells in a whole new way while also being very diplomatic over at Hexside.

There was no reason to believe the five aliens at the end weren't dipshits. They attacked first.

I put off watching it because while I dug the retro design the preview didn't look too interesting and the synopsis seemed bland.

But I was like "Fuck it" coz I was bored last night and nothing else was holding my attention and I was pleasantly surprised. Good voice acting, animation is great despite the really simple style, and Iwas actually surprised when I saw it was Craig Mccracken since I didn't realize he was getting another show.

Good humor, ideas are fun, i like that they actually have to kinda learn HOW to be heros and aren't just amazing by default, my only complaint is Rosa because she's annoying (because toddlers are annoying sorry not sorry) but I'm digging it enough.

Neither of those cartoons feel like their creators have a good handle on the story they're trying to tell, whereas SU and KC give me the opposite impression. Star vs's story issues weren't as obvious in S1 or S2, but as the show went on, everything just got worse and worse. And while I like a fair amount of things The Owl House has to offer, there are too many middling or inconsistent aspects and plot holes in both the worldbuilding and the main cast to make me consider the show GOOD. Dana's still a very skilled artist, don't get me wrong. Her writing just doesn't feel strong, even as a first-time showrunner.

I'm pretty sure that's a conscious nod to the ridiculousness of super team tropes. There's often one power that could just solve all the problems. They implied that this was the joke when Rosa won almost all the medals in episode 4 because she'd just get big and smash shit. They also had her forget the ring that one time when the didn't want her to just smash shit again. I honestly like the fact that, unlike most super hero shows, they don't lose site of the easy outs. I think the challenge for writing in the show is going to be to find ways where Rosa's power is somehow stymied so that's not an option. It's much better than most comics and shows where they just conveniently forget that a single move by a character could fix what turns out to be a multi-episode plot.

Steven wasn't entirely useless to the Crystal Gems back in the early days, but his childish demeanor was still goofy enough to turn off a lot of viewers who gave the series a try. They needed to "push through" to get to "Ocean Gem."

An informed viewer can respect that sometimes an easy solution has to be potentially waved away to better serve the story and themes (ex: Steven feeling abandoned and helplessly alone at the sight of his friends moving on to different things in SU Future despite warp pads and Lion's portals remaining at his fingertips).

SU Future's finale showed that Steven is finally taking the steps to becoming a more secure and individual version of himself who can freely venture out into his own life without his Gem Messiah duties weighing down on him. That's about as much closure as his story really needs.

Yeah, his trauma could've been touched upon more for the resolution to match the serious ways it was tackled in "Growing Pains," but everything still flows well together. All the main themes of Future come together really well.

I thought the pacing was a bit too fast in the first few episodes, but it got a lot more smooth later on.

I know of the Season 2 renewal and I know Netflix's algorithms are all bullshit anyway, but did Kid Cosmic ever reach the Top 10 at any point? Seems only avid animation fans gave the show a watch. Netflix clearly didn't push the "From the creator of The Powerpuff Girls" angle enough.

Rosa being a little kid is a really smart way of writing a dumb bruiser. Every team needs a meathead tank and usually they make them retarded but making her an actual little kid keeps her on that border of dangerous and overpowered but also easily defeated. I actually kinda love the team dynamic of KC. I can't wait to see if they do more interesting shit with it in space.

The point is Kid grew out of that mentality as part of his journey. Remember, he assumed Chuck was a bad guy purely because he was an alien invader.
While it is true that Chuck WAS a bad guy, it didn't matter because Kid was seeing the world purely through his lens of 'aliens are bad because they're bad in my comics'.

I tried pointing out animation issues and illogical things happening in the cartoon,
but all I got was "cartoons aren't meant to be serious lol", instead of admitting it was bad direction or promote further discussions.

It really is a circle jerk in Kid Cosmic threads.

One user did earnestly commented that Kid messing up the restaurant wasn't a big deal considering the costs, and that he's still a kid.

Despite my hatred for those meaningless townie episodes and too much focus on side character/fusions, I liked that the show never took the easy way out with a bubbly happy ending.

I completely agree. I know Dab Forums has to be contrarian at all times, but I loved SU and it's clear experimental style that flew in the face of traditional storytelling, like a webcomic animated. Kid Cosmic, though, is clearly made by a skilled industry vet presenting his own take on a more heavy serialized show, and as a result it feels very "polished" and, most importantly, made for kids first.

Sad but hilariously ironic.

What an incredibly obnoxious cartoon this show must be overall. That clip was just terrible. The show must be like that Twilight Zone episode where the town had to be nice and think only happy thoughts about the omniscient boy with psychic powers, but it's an ongoing show. Like be kind and nice to the supremely powerful and impulsive child, or they'll annihilate and obliterate you.
