Depends what the beams do. If they just shoot light with no effect, become performer/entertainer/DJ. If they're actually useful then become superhero.
If get approached by SHIELD, join as long as I get cool costume. Hopefully do well neough to get put in the Avengers initiave, maybe help out in Fury's big week (IM2, IH, Thor 1, Cap 1). Join the team, become crucial member. Maybe my beams can be used for hypnosis as well as blasting? Help calm the hulk. After Battle for New York, tell the Avengers that we need to expand our membership and be a more vigilant organisation. Recruit War Machine, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones etc. This time due to new reformed team, Avengers actually help during solo films like IM3 and TWS. Tell Tony that we don't need Ultron as an armour around the world, a larger more organised Avengers team will do that. Convince Pietro and Wanda to join after Hydra. Heroes are more prominent and do more, work from the streets with guys like DD and save the world with Thor level threats. Now we have the Sokovia Accords...with a larger team it's likely that these could come earlier due to more mishaps being probable. Civil War could actually be worse now with more Heroes, and it's worse since with no Ultron...Hulk is still on earth.

Pick Cap's side, he needs the firepower and the Avengers can't be government stooges. Use powers to blind/distract those at Airport, more of Cap's team go to Zemo's hydra base. Now all the Avengers convene on Zemo, winter soldier tape plays. Tony goes nuts but now with all the Avengers here we restrain him. Argue that fighting will solve nothing, and that we can't let our beliefs make us enemies. Team splits up, half on the run with Cap, half work for UN with Tony. Spend next couple years building underground network of Superheroes. Make contact with guys like Dr Strange, Quake, Iron Fist etc. Fight the hand or some shit. By the time Thanos arrives, he finds an organised response of supers, now working together instead of apart like in IW. He stands no chance against Teamwork motherfucker! No snap, separate stones and keep them away from each other. Add gotg to the team, have a space force. Now the universe is protected by the Avengers. Job done, day saved. The Marvel universe is more united than ever, fufilling the phrase "it's all connected"

Also, no Ultron means no Vision. Wanda will be fine destroying the mind stone then. Do it before Thanos arrives, BTFO him when he gets there with; The Hulk, Thor (when he comes back from space), War Machine, Iron Man, Strange, Gotg, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Quake, Jessica Jones, and whoever is on earth at this time. With Civil War not being as bad, Thanos might not even make it to earth. Tony and Strange contacting us when the black order first show up looking for the time stone. Maybe we all go to space and kill him on Titan? Thor wouldn't have arrived by that point but with Hulk, Wanda and Strange do we need him?
