TWEWY is an exception to the CGI rule since its arty style is such that it translates very well to CGI. More fitting comparisions would be Dorohedoro, Beastars and Sidonia no Kishi. They're not bad adaptations but some of the charm is lost cause CGI can't capture the more dynamic scenes very well, or scenes with exaggerated expressions. Also, the quality is subject to production constraints like anything else, and SNK's CGI looks pretty shit so that doesn't bode well considering MAPPA has their schedule full back to back pretty much.

Who do we think the anime director is gonna be again? Someone debunked it being Yabuta, and Hayashi and Park are gonna be busy with their respective projects.

The saving grace is that there's no release year associated with CSM anime, so I don't think it will be this year. I think they'll more likely be focusing on SnK Final Season Part 2 and CSM in the next year.

Could be a freelancer. They were able to get Yamamoto for Yuri on Ice and Watanabe for Zankyou no Terror but then again those were back in the Maruyama days

Casuals will love it anyway no matter what generic shit Mappa pimps out. The question is whether it will be an avant-garde passion project or a forgettable trash adaption.

This is what unironically gives me hope. CSM is pretty well revered in Japan, despite being such a new property. If they fuck it up in the wake of the mild SnK backlash, they'll actually be done for.

i kinda hope that they adapt all of part 1 in like roughly 30-36 episodes to keep whatever momentum they have.

I think that one might not entirely be their fault. SNK was a special case in that Bessatsu Shounen wanted the anime done right away so that it would end at the same time as the manga, so it was rushed.

I think you need to be prepared that there's a high chance the devilmen will be CG. Remember that Dorohedoro was in CG because it would be too hard to constantly draw Kaiman's scales

But, user, Aki's death was handled very well and became a great highlight of the manga. From the moment his powers were introduced we were told he didn't have much left to live and the future devil also said pretty clearly that he'd die the worst possible death.
Power's death is a more arguable point but it served its purpose in setting up the final conflict between Denji and Makima and she can still reincarnate and stuff. Most of the deaths did serve a purpose.

Dorohedoro and JJK is literally what fujimoto himself said he copied off of even if it was a joke. CSM isn't similar to JJK much but the balance of comedy and darkness is very reminiscent of Dorohedoro. Hayashi is more than competent enough to direct it but probably wont since he's on AOT.

It won't be either. As you said, Hayashi will be busy with SnK but I doubt MAPPA will pull Park off JJK as it's a hit now, meaning he'll be busy with S2. Also, a CSM anime has been rumoured and in production since May 2020. Park has an insane work ethic, but I doubt he'd be able to work on both JJK and CSM at the same time. The director will likely be a freelancer MAPPA hired or who approached them after the announcement in December.

user look, no modern anime studio has a guaranteed 100% success rate when it comes to good adaptations. Majority of the top-tier talent work as freelancers with only a few being loyal to studios. The doomposting literally just comes from SnK because underage maggots weren't ready for the change in style and now they're bandwagoning hard. They'll shit on MAPPA, JJK, and the CSM anime because they're terrified that they'll have their opinion invalidated when the vast majority of people are enjoying SnK S4. Would I have preferred Brain's Base or Bones? The only source material I know MAPPA haven't adapted well is Banana Fish, and that's more on the director over anything else. Oh and also God of Highschool, but that's because Crunchy decided to crunch 100+ chapters into 13 episodes. Dororo and Dorohedoro are good adaptations.

characters are unrealistic in that they behave in unrealistic ways. They react to things and situations not much like the normal person despite being portrayed as normal, I'm talking about the MC. He's like a robot who has a switch that let's him do things on the fly. His first interaction with the demons or whatever you call them was the biggest offender. He wasn't trained to fight said demons yet somehow at the flick of the moment he just does without rhyme or reason. It would have been more believable if he had training beforehand but then he just suddenly throws himself in the face of the unknown without any consequences. This then makes a domino effect in that everything that happens after that become affected by this.

TLDR He's a badly written character. And I don't want to suffer through a show with the dude on the screen the entire time.

They've been overworking since 2017/18. The only solace is that ZLS had finished last year and had been delayed due to COVID, so the only new production they've been working on is Heion.

AFAIK SnK production isn't complete as they literally finish the production for each episode just a day before the actual release. JJK also had some issues according to Vercreek but I assume it's almost complete atm.

IIRC someone in the trailer threads said it's being done by OG MAPPA staff but I don't know how credible the info is.

Typically, anime production gets tighter the more a season goes on. That's why usually the quality of any anime will drop off in the latter half. Episode 1 of a show has the best production timeline, while subsequent episodes won't have the luxury of time on their side, usually. There are exceptions. It's all up to the production committee.
Those Vercreek tweets sure are interesting, MAPPA definitely seems like complete pandemonium over the last year. I do recall someone saying that JJK was in its final stage of production when the SnK S4 trailer dropped, which is probably why MAPPA agreed to do SnK S4 in the first place, but that could be false.
