Guys, why is she so perfect? She's sensible, qt and quite strong. Why 3d girls can't be more like Kaori?

French live action film is pretty good too
I absolutely blame Kaori for my love of short haired girls and tomboys.
Well, yes, she's one of the best tomboys. I refused to realise that tomboys are the best for quite a period
Maybe this should be a tomboy thread, not just City Hunter thread
Too bad all you're getting are retarded moeblobs these days.
Exactly. And rl girls aren't as cool or smart.
Just finished City Hunter. Can't wait to see what wacky adventure Ryo and Kaori have in Angel Heart.
It's not that wacky
Yes, all the wacky adventures they will have.
The good 80s are gone, now we have shallow e-thots.
>The good 80s are gone
That's weird because for the past 10 years everywhere I look is 80s bullshit.
Not canon.
Only retroactively since he pissed off his fans so bad with such a retarded decision.
Yes I know. Alternative universe.
I know Angel Heart is a bit controversial among City Hunter fans, but I think it's still a very good manga and worth reading if you're a fan of City Hunter and it's characters once you get past the shocking first chapters. Since it's a seinen manga it's able to portray characters in a different way it wasn't able to in a shounen magazine like WSJ. Focussing on themes such as loss and family.
>why is she so perfect?
She just is.
For all it's criticism City Hunter recieves because of it's perverted humor it sure has some very well written female characters.
80s weren't actually that good.
I prefer 70s.
Maybe aesthetically, but not in the spirit.
Did they end up together?
In the manga yes, lots of progression in their relationship in the last two story arcs, the anime still ends on a will-they-won't-they note.
Sort of, but not really.
They will forever be in a will-they-won't-they kind of relationship probably despite being aware of each others feelings. Maybe they would have ended up together if the manga wasn't axed since they are considered a married couple in the alternative universe Angel Heart.
And well-drawn
Kind of funny how they are drawn like very intimate in official art while in the actual manga they behave more like an old married couple.
Because she's an actual fleshed out character rather than just another archetype. This became a lost art with time.
Any other side characters or arcs you enjoyed in City Hunter? For some reason I really like Yuka's arc. She is as much as a troublemaker as her older sisters Saeko and Reika, but instead of a femme fatale she is a teen girl who writes fanfics. Her arc also had a few good scenes. Shame she never appeared in the anime.
What are other differences between anime and manga?
Anime toned down the dick jokes so Ryo no longer has a massive visible boner like pic relaetd. Kaori also became a less serious character and upped the hammer gag quite a lot.
I think almost half of the episodes in the anime are anime-original and the ones based off the manga are usually shortened to fit the episode formats. Usually resulting in leaving out some of Kaori's development, resulting into her being more of a joke character.
Last few volumes were never adapted into the anime so characters like Yuka and Mick Angel never show up. The character introduction of the docter was also skipped yet he still shows up in the movie Shinjuku Private Eyes.
The anime also retconned Ryo's airplane phobia though that one is only notable in one episode if you've read the manga.
The overal tone of the anime is mostly the same as the manga, maybe slightly more comedic. It's still City Hunter at it's core, just a sligthly different experience.
Out of all the small story arcs I think I enjoyed the one with the disabled girl spying on Ryo and Kaori's appartment the most
Roughly the last third of the manga wasn't adapted, includes some unimportant arcs but also the closure on that whole cartel business, more details on Ryo's past, a few flashback chapters when Makimura was still alive and Umibozu's wedding. Other than that mokkori in the manga is associated with boners and the first few volumes are harsher in tone (random goons get killed for example).
>the first few volumes are harsher in tone (random goons get killed for example).
At least one thing the anime does better than the manga is having a more consistent tone. The manga starts as a dark crime drama and then suddenly shifting into a some goofy action manga before it finally manages to find a middle ground after almost 1/3rd of the manga's total runtime.
BEST tomboy
fluffy!
Delicious 80's tomboy
No, what you look at is a cheap, clumsy approximation of 80s stuff
not even aesthetically
NO FLOOF = NO SOUL
What's the point of those crows and dragonflies
The spirit and optimism from the bubble economy era in Japan will never return. No thight spandex, legwarmers and city pop remixes will change that
Garbage 80's show
What about Tsukasa Hojo's other works? What do you think of Cat's Eye, Family Compo and Angel Heart?
Don't forget thick bushes
They are the japanese equivalent of the chirping crickets in the background
no but they'll help a lot
>Sexual Harassment
>Gets hits with hammer
>Repeat for 100+ episodes
80's anime were better guys, i swear!!
It was Japan being an economic super power what led to all these 80's anime. It wasn't just that they liked legwarmers that much, it was the overal mood that anything seems possible at the time why these anime are so soulfull. Today seems a lot more depressing with stagnating birthrates and high suicide numbers among young people with people fantasizing about escaping to a different world. You can try to bring back the 80's aesthetics, but it won't bring back it's soul.
I know that but that's not an excuse to avoid bringing all those objectively good things back.
Yes they were, because the girl delivering the hammer blow is cute and the guy receiving it is cool. Unlike now.
GET WILD AND TOUGH
It's not very smart, but it can be fun
i want my Cat's Eye live action baguette-san
I suppose manga is less repeating.
she's so sexy with longer hair
I think Lacheau would make it someday as well. As long as he can add enough jokes.
>Family Compo
isnt that the one where the parents are tranny?
I JUST WANT TO GO GO GO
no, short is justice
JK Kaori!
>NOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T HAVE SLAPSTICK HUMOR, RAUNCHY COMEDY AND RECURRING GAGS!!!! ANIME IS FOR MATURE INTELLECTUALS SUCH AS MYSEFL!!!! I WATCHED PATLABOR 2 AND TEXHNOLYZE!!!
haha hammer go B0NK
Why aren't there any good City Hunter doujins on Sadpanda?
She was so girly here
Because good artists mostly watch pleb stuff. Maybe Gutsbro from /h/ can help, but he's still in training imo
cause there's no need, the source material is already perfect
my nigga
>I'm the sexiest
Oh stop it.
only works on teenage tomboy
wr0ng
is she cucking Kaori in this isekai?
Impossible, Kaori anti-NTR powers are so strong Ryo hasn't gotten laid a single time in 32 volumes despite having the opportunity several times.
Even death doesn't stop her in the alternative universe!
Kaori's short haircut looks nice.
so he wants to fuck dogs and kill cats
In Angel Heart universe, Miki is a loli. Even the bigger age gap still doesn't stop Umibozu's Hikaru Genji plan.
good question
City Hunter video game when?
a musou?
Maybe a Yakuza-style video game like the Fist of the North Star game. In an earlier interview they said that City Hunter doesn't match the same tone as the Yakuza games, but the newest one is different from the usual Yakuza games. If they want to use the same VA for the game, like Kenshiro having Kiryuu's VA, then they could use Ichiban's for Ryo.
I think if they make a game the same style as Like a Dragon then a Yakuza-style City Hunter Game could work.
