Non-3x3 thread

Too many 3x3 threads recently. Let's try a different format for a change.
Top 3 each and other Dab Forums-related stuff.

Here's my own.

...Some of us are just animation enthusiasts dude. We don't get off to degeneracy, don't worship celebrities from cultures not our own, and don't read manga. We just want interesting stories animated well.

Having a favorite director or VA is not "worshiping celebrities" it's just knowing something about the medium instead of being a casual faggot - which explains why Dab Forums resists it I guess

yeah I never knew how to edit these things. do you use paint .net?

Attached: [SubsPlease] Wonder Egg Priority - 05 (1080p) [62006A24] (1).webm (624x640, 783.01K)

Well, what said.
Dab Forums is a board for anime and manga, so at least a good portion of people here like both. Many people, believe it or not, even prefer manga.
Either way, in case you are an "animation enthusiast", wouldn't that imply that you like the medium well enough to have an interest in its production processes? Wouldn't that mean that you are somewhat familiar with at least a few directors whose style you like? For a seiyuu, you could just try to ask yourself whether there was a performance of a character you particularly enjoyed and look up who's behind it. If you were a film freak, wouldn't you know a few outstanding directors and actors?

Dab Forums is too lazy these days

You can use Paint.net, or Gimp or even something like CSP, Corel or Photoshop.
The important part is that it supports layers.
Just open the template, insert all pictures as layers (important!), then position them and make sure that in the end, the template is the top layer and nothing overlaps in the transparent windows.

Neat idea. I'll make one but in a different format.

Based

>Having a favorite VA is not "worshiping celebrities"
Yes it is, you degenerate weeb. There are hundreds upon hundreds of competent seiyuus. If you flock to a specific one, despite their oeuvre being defined by what were casted for instead of personal conviction or artistic ambition, you're worshipping a celebrity for completely inane reasons. You could have picked anything else, but flocking to seiyuu is nothing but celebrity worshipping pursued by mentally ill otaku. Stop pretending otherwise. There's at least 4 categories on that grid that are worthless (hentai, opening song, mascot, seiyuu).

Filthy phone nigger here, can't do it.

Attached: 1612937215083.jpg (217x320, 9.74K)

Oh, so if there are a few hundred difference things in a category that you consider "competent" or good or anything like that, you cannot have a favourite one?

>There's at least 4 categories on that grid that are worthless (hentai, opening song, mascot, seiyuu).
How the hell are they "worthless"? We've been over seiyuu already. It's like having a favourite actor for someone who's into films.
Hentai are merely a subcategory of anime, yes, but it makes sense to ask about them separately as most people treat them differently and calling one a favourite is more of a taboo. Besides, "hentai" already was on the original template this one originated from, and the complaint about that one was that it contained to much non-Dab Forums-related stuff.
Mascots are common enough in anime to have a favourite one. And openings and their songs are always one of the first impressions you get from an anime and thus something that sticks with most viewers.

Also, let's not forget that you complained even about directors and, most notably, manga before. You've already proven that you have nothing of value to contribute.

>It's like having a favourite actor for someone who's into films.
LOL
>Also, let's not forget that you complained even about directors and, most notably, manga before. You've already proven that you have nothing of value to contribute.
Funny you can't fathom that there's more than one person who points out your degenerate agenda. Why would the same person respond to a post twice? Seek help, shizzo.

>Why would the same person respond to a post twice?
Are you this retarded or only pretending to be? You didn't respond to the same post twice, you responded to another post that was a reply to what I have to assume is your prior post.

I tried doing this but t's just way too much trouble

Will make after I shower

You're an old man. +++YKK (it is YKK under setting right or am I retarded)

>way too much trouble
Why? Do you need help or instructions? You just need to crop and position 16 pictures and then drag the bottom layer on top.

>it is YKK under setting right or am I retarded
Yes, you are right. I am a relatively old man (for Dab Forums standards) and that is YKK.
I don't know whether you're also retarded or not.

takes way too long to fill one of these out

ah damnit tomino definitely pisses off more spergs than oshii, I should have put him on instead

Generic pretentious taste coming through.

I'm not enough of a boomer so I haven't watched most of your picks, but Yotsuba and the old HxH are great.

I love pretty much everything about yours.

Only one I have read/watched from yours is Golden Kamuy, so not much I can comment on yours as well.

I only read nagai's devilman
currently reading Getter robo but /m/ attributes that to ishikawa
I liked champloo quite a bit
Bakka Bakka!
I am slowly working through 0079
I'm surprised someone liked last exile that much. Freesia is fun

Attached: Oshimi shuuzo is mangaka.jpg (7200x5500, 1.6M)

Fujo or gay?

I wasn't aware that Oshii pissed off any spergs. Maybe I don't visit the right threads.

Extremely cute and cozy picks overall. Especially Tomino.
Very /m/ as well.

Everyone calls him Uncle, but to me he's more like a father-in-law.

Well, she is a great actress and singer, and most importantly, her performance adds a lot to Saki's character.

Classy selection of pictures. Although I don't recognize the mangaka and I'm not familiar with two of your three manga, overall a very solid grid.

Props for Boku no Pico.

Can't really think of anything for the rest

Attached: favs.jpg (5400x4125, 2.44M)

Never did a grid before so go easy on me.

I liked part 2
I like yuugami as a character and chihiro as his foil but I just keep losing interest in the manga, I tried fire punch and chainsaw man and they were not for me.
Loved Prison school manga up till the FREE page
I never skipped "KIMI TO" Good taste
I have not seen top wo nerae nor pretty honey
I dropped dororo after the prostitute arc.

cutie honey*

Ghibli niggers have a hard time coming to terms with Oshii's statements on Paku-san and Miya-san
His best work was Urusei Yatsura and I like his later stuff too, but Innocence is his worst because it's very pretentious, name dropping philosophers and being intentionally vague
His pretentiousness also pisses off retards because essentially says "Lol too drop for you"
All around a fun guy
>I'm not familiar with two of your three manga
His manga are Innocence, Freesia and Takemitsuzamurai, all very recognisable
Hail Holy Queen, we need more Christianity in anime and manga
Christians secretly run Japan, there is a very disproportionate number of Catholic politicians, including the legendary Taro Aso
Even Anno being a moron and not understanding it, he still understands that Christians have the superior aesthetics than the pagan Japanese
I like space dandy too, a shame that episodic stories don't work on the industry right now

>I don't understand 3x3.
It's not particularly complex. 3x3 are just your nine favourite anime, nine favourite manga, or in theory nine favourite anything.
>What is the format supposed to be about?
This one or the regular one? Usually, for 3x3 it's about trying to represent your taste in anime with pictures that look good together.
For this template, it pretty much spells out for you what it's about.

>HxH (opening?)
Yeah. This one, to be specific:
youtube.com/watch?v=0TRs6cMZkQY

That's not Kaiji it's Washizu, from Fukumoto's best manga, how could you make this mistake

Houkago Insomnia by Ojiro Makoto

I am not christian myself but I found MariMite really enjoyable
my dream manga/anime would be about a monk who falls in love and leaves a monastery.
Bake was good
didn't enjoy EoE as much as the TV series
HnK: I got as far as the jellyfish in the manga but I finished the anime, I liked Shinsha
I love Kaguya shinomiya as a character
>hanakana
yeah that's her

Plenty of seminarians realise they aren't cut out to be priests when they come across a beautiful faithful woman
Would be a really good story, not sure how popular it would be in nipponese demographics
However, St Valentine's feast day is very important at schools so there would be some way to sell it

Comfy song
Fugg sorry they look alike.
Houkago Insomnia looks amazing, doesn't look like it gets translated frequently though, also thanks.
I really love Monogatari as a whole, S2 is probably my favorite, but I feel the bake cover is too iconic too pass on.
I love the series and film equally, but kind of the same situation here with the cool poster.
You should continue reading Hnk! It's on hiatus, but will probably finish soon.
Aka is good at characters yes.

A lot of my favorites feature planes for some reason. Nice Gendo, Patlabor and Pluto pick. Are you looking forward to the Pluto anime?

Neither

I like everything. I'm planning to read the cutie honey manga someday, and I bought the live action movie a few weeks ago.
Started Initial D yesterday, nice to see the eight six. Samurai Shamploo and RON RON RON RON ROOON are great too.
The only one I watched is Dragon Half, nice.
Not familiar with any of those, sorry. Planning on watching Texhnolyze soon though.
Gendo and boku no pico, nice.
Prison school, jojo, fire punch. nice. I have the op saved somewhere on my phone.
>Rate faggots
I could never really get into bakemonogatari when I watched it years ago. I should try again, maybe I would enjoy it now. I have the gem anime on my ptw for a long time too.

>I bought the live action movie a few weeks ago
Which one? There are two.
And while they are both definitely worth a watch, I wouldn't recommend them as your first impression of the franchise, as neither of them is really in line with what it's usually about. Starting with the manga or the 1974 anime is generally a better idea.

Bakemonogatari is one of the more accessible parts of the show I feel. But you will probably like the Kizu films more, and the second season, where Araragi becomes less central in the story and we see more of the other characters. You should watch HnK, and then read it afterwards. The anime is probably the best CG show out there. Also, good on you for rating this time :)

>The anime is probably the best CG show out there
Polygon Pictures would like a word with you.

ibis paint

PP can fuck off

The 2004 one.
I saw cutie honey:re, so I kinda know what's happening (I think). Is there a big difference in story with the 1974 one? I watched re first because it's shorter and I'm not really used to 70s animation.
lol thanks. I'll try rewatching gatari one day, I stopped watching after the snail, I think. I'll give HnK a go after I'm done watching Initial D.

Attached: junk a favorites.jpg (1800x1375, 538.22K)

>Is there a big difference in story with the 1974 one?
Yes. A massive difference. Anno basically made up his own story and characters.
In terms of how close the anime stay to the manga, it's:
Universe > 1973 >> Flash >>>>> Re:CH
(Incidently also how I'd rate them.)
Re:CH is still a really fun anime, but its lighthearted silliness is not at all what you should expect from the franchise. Cutie Honey actually tends to get quite dark and serious at times.
Then there's also Shin, but that one is more of a sequel to the 1973 (no idea why I wrote 1974 before) anime. It's not similar to the manga sequel(s), but it never tried to tell that story in the first place.

Alright, thanks.

Interesting grid, despite all the holes. Is it that you haven't seen more than Jojo and that pervert prison anime, or do you simply have very strange standards?
Also, complete darkness is a very bold choice for a setting. I can't recall any anime or manga going that route.

Good choices for both anime and manga. I don't necessarily find your favourite characters that great, but I assume we aren't looking for the same things in characters.
Oh, and I never considered Luna a mascot. But I guess you she'd count.

>That's not Kaiji it's Washizu
Has Fukumoto ever elaborated on why all of his main characters basically have the same facial features?

>stvalentine.jpg
Isn't that the patron saint of florists and chocolatiers?

Well, I can respect Ranma, Miyazaki and the characters. Other than that, not my taste.
Wasn't aware that Yugioh ever got a manga. Who'd buy a manga adaptation of an anime that's basically a toy commercial?

Definitely one of the more varied grids in here. Interesting mix.

Never seen Kiznaiver. But the OP song is an interesting one. Love the synth 90s disco vibe (which America calls "2010s Eurodance").
Curiously, I'd consider each of your #2 picks for the main categories much better than the respective #1 picks.

Took me to long to make so I will rate later.

Attached: Le Favorites.png (794x597, 686.5K)

Fukumoto's main characters all look very different. Only the nameless ones look the same. Maybe you can't tell the difference, I can. I can't tell the difference between women's voices but maybe you can do that. Different people different perspective.

>He's the patron saint of epilepsy
I was never aware that illnesses have their own sanits. Who's the patron saint of Covid-19?

Interesting. Didn't know that.
The anime at least never struck me as more than a thinly veiled ad for the card game.

cringe

>Wasn't aware that Yugioh ever got a manga. Who'd buy a manga adaptation of an anime that's basically a toy commercial?
The Yu-gi-oh manga predates the anime and had nothing to do with the card game until much later, after the game got popular. Originally, it was about Yami-Yugi awakening to enact vengeance on the people that had done wrong to Yugi or his friends by challenging them to shadows games, which unlike in the anime, could be any kind of contest with set rules that he made up on the spot, and they were usually very dangerous, involving blades, fire, and explosives. If you lost, Yami-Yugi could put you in a penalty game, which was always some dark, ironic punishment tailored the match the victim's sins, though if they threatened his friend's lives, Yugi would just kill them instead.

Attached: yugi manga.jpg (860x700, 151.34K)

>Is it that you haven't seen more than Jojo and that pervert prison anime, or do you simply have very strange standards?
I haven't watched a lot of anime and these are the ones I think I like the most, one because of the humor and the other because it's cool

Okay. That definitlely at least sounds worth looking into. I'll try reading it. How come that it pretty much turned into a card game in the public perception?

That's fair.

whats the manga in the small panel to the right

Yugami kun

People got interested in one of the games in the series, so the creator made a full playable game, which the company started selling. The game sold well so they rewrote the anime to better sell the game, and the game and anime's combined popularity outshone the original manga, mostly due to producing more money for marketing.

Only rating the OPs now because why not.
Based taste, very unique song, sets the mood for the whole arc, hits hard in the nostalgia.
I've listened to it a lot lately, but it still hits the nostalgia pretty hard. One of the best english openings along with Mushishi.
Barely remember the Nadia op, but listening to it now, it was definitely a banger.
Lain again.
Not a huge fan of Kanon, but the song is pretty comfy.
Best Jojo opening, very memorable song.
Cute and energetic, probably fun to play on Osu.
Feels like a classic already, not a personal favorite, but definitely a good song.
I would pick Kokoro no Chizu over this one.
Coolest song in the thread.
Holy shit, I never realized this was the same band that made the Xam'd opening. Those are both absolute bangers. Both shows were kind of disappointing though.
youtube.com/watch?v=v_Oc7ny2RvE
Texhnolyze is great. Not a huge fan of the opening though.
Forgot Hellsing had an opening, nice vibe, but nothing I would listen to regularly.
That's the L'Arc en Ciel opening, right? Definitely good, but I'd pick Driver's High over this one.

Attached: 65323554.png (1823x997, 1.9M)

Kiznaiver is very mediocre, interesting premise but goes nowhere.
Now the opening is brilliant, visually aswell.
Im biased now but iam a huge fan of the band, and that song was the last one they ever realsed before the vocalist died.
Also im sure you could tell how influenced they were by take on me, partially explaining that disco sound while they usually have a more rugged sound in their albums.
>Curiously, I'd consider each of your #2 picks for the main categories much better than the respective #1 picks
No doubt, infinetly more influential and genre defining, but if i were to swap them it wouldnt feel mine.

Is this the power of underage

projection

>I would pick Kokoro no Chizu over this one.
It definitely holds a spirit of One Piece few of the other openings can touch, but I think Share the World is almost as good at that, but also has a better song itself.

>Dont read manga
Kill yourself

>That's the L'Arc en Ciel opening, right? Definitely good, but I'd pick Driver's High over this one.
The GTO opening is pretty good. But I just love how how the singer sings the refrain in the DNA2 one.
Also the opening animation sequence of the OP is one of my favorite.

Indeed they are from the same band.
They also made a ost for Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn just as good.

I really like the world building in both Haibane and Beastars (even though the quality of world building degrades in Beastars as it goes on because Paru just started throwing random shit in there only to forget about it.) Also does Sakamoto count as a mascot?

Goddamn, that's some good taste. Maybe tripfags aren't always faggots.
