No problem with double cours, this anime just doesn't handle it well. I wouldn't call it bad, but it has no chance against almost everything else airing right now and it seems incapable of making good use of the time it has.
Again this was normal 20+ years ago, when we got double cours that had an introduction in episode 1-2 and then almost nothing at all but episodical stuff or mundane adventures and superficial character episodes until the end of the first half that finally advanced the plot only to fall back into episodical hijinks till episode 22 of 24. I wouldn't wonder if it was the same here. Maybe some smaller development in episode 8, then nothing, then the big twist in 12 or the characters breaking trhough the wall, then 8 semi-episodical adventures outside the wall and actual plot happening after episode 20.
