I'm sure Shueisha wants her to start a new manga after the success of Kimetsu. I'm sure she even wants to do it.
But will her next work be as successful? Will it be as popular? Will it even be in Weekly Jump? Maybe she wants to go monthly, who knows?
So what's next for Gotouge after Demon Slayer?
>mariel; they wont let me make another manga
W
>the Demon Slayer movie is doing an Oscar campaign
Fucking kek
>Samurai 8, Eldlive, Edens Zero, Burn The Witch, Build King, Fire Force, MAO
Shounen mangakas are one-trick, at best TWO-trick ponies.
I'd love to see it just to fuck over Disney again
>MAO
>including Takahashi Rumiko as a one trick pony
Retard.
Why you listed MAO, Fire Force and Eden's Zero is beyond me.
For the sake of discussion.
She said something about doing sci-fi next.
Sci-Fi RomCom.
Movie didn't even release in theaters or streaming. Also got to love that they outright didn't consider the MHA movie which did release theatrically.
more of Demon Slayer of course
you think Shueisha will let her go easy?
You basically have to be a stress addict to go back to WSJ
I wonder if Rin has tried to poach her for Jump+
Soul is gonna win anyway
>her
hey it says the cutoff date for a movie to release and be considered at the oscars this year is February 28th (covid set the schedule back)
Does that mean they're gonna release the movie in NA? Australia and New Zealand already have showings starting the 25th. Maybe some limited release?
> Edens Zero
Are you ignoring that Mashima already had a massive hit with RAVE before Fairy Tail or are you just uninformed?
It will fail. Demon Slayer was high weeb generic shonenshit that stayed somewhat consistent(unlike Bleach). The titanic of modern otaku trash. Thunder in a bottle. Unless it's more samurai buuushido slave morality shlock it WILL fail.
>rave
Hit or not, it was mediocre and forgettable. The MC was an awful guy who left his sister at the island instead of taking her with him that never made any sense to me at all. It's kinda like MAR - it's supposedly "good" but nobody gives a shit about it. Fairy Tail had better characters and it was better than Rave. And the art is godawful in itself and awful for doing a bad job plagiarizing the Onepiece artstyle. Why am I supposed to consider rave good? In my book it sure isn't
The dumbest thing Shueisha could do is force the author to make more KnY
If an author can get multiple different hits, they're basically set
Why? Because of expectations placed on her thanks to KMYs success?
>Toriyama will never make another hit after Dr. Slump
>Toriyama
That bait tho.
I don't consider OP good either. You should judge by objective, not subjective criteria though. Both Rave and Fairy Tail sold well.
Debait me.
Demon Slayer was all the minute substance the author barely had and put it on paper to give you Demon Slayer. That's the best they can do. I know one thing for certain, the quality will be lower, they will rest on their laurels and feel pride for releasing this children's tale. The weebs were ejaculating to meme slayer the moment they saw katanas. Can the new series succeed? Don't ask such a question, people still read one (long) piece. Sure it could, but it will never reach the heights of katana incest man.
Retirement, shes a one trick pony anyways
Enjoy her Kimetsu bucks
Nothing, she can retire from making manga now. Originally she plan to give up on making manga if Kimetsu failed. Now it ended, no reason to continue
It’s their first manga, we literally don’t know if that’s the best they can do, we only know their art can look better when not put on a weekly to week timeframe.
Can it reach KNY level again? Probably not, KNY is an anomaly, the exception not the standard
>The MC was an awful guy who left his sister at the island instead of taking her with him that never made any sense to me at all
Oh yeah, he should've just taken his sister along him in a dangerous journey to save the world.
>Fairy Tail had better characters and it was better than Rave
In my opinion that's wrong, but that would only prove Shonen artists can make better works after a massive hit.
> And the art is godawful in itself and awful for doing a bad job plagiarizing the Onepiece artstyle
That's straight up wrong in many ways. Yeah, it was rough at the beginning since it was Mashima's first work, but it gets fantastic over the course of its run.
For anyone who has read RAVE or knows about Mashima's story, it's obvious he didn't plagiarize OP. RAVE is just one year older than OP, why would he have it as a reference?.
It's just that both Mashima and Oda had Toriyama as a reference, and both got to similar artstyles at their own for having the same reference.
>weeaboo central speculation
Idk fucking shet
Retirement. Gotoge's a one-trick ponywhose schlock got carried by Ufotable. It's the ULTIMATE proof that with good animation the show can be shit but people will like it.
Rave showcased how inexperienced Mashima was but it was still a great read, given that the audience for it had to be quite young. The story was better than FT , it really give off the style of Japanese high fantasy of a Final Fantasy.
She wanted to do a sci-fi romcom with a focus on the comedy, didn't she?
Imagine a full series with her weird chibi style. It'd majestic.
I wish she'd do a horror series instead, her pre/early-kimetsu style would work real well with horror I think.
This. I saw in some other thread drawings that were done in her other style does anyone here have them? Those looked good. They were illustrations of her past characters I believe
