3 has some of the most infuriating 100% completion puzzles in the entire series (and one particular puzzle in 2) but if you've already played 64 you should already have a leg up.

A stage in Kirby usually consists of multiple rooms connected through an entrances and an exits, i don't think level design would be as much of a problem as figuring out good 3d controls.

Not to undermine your point but Epic Yarn was one year before RTDL. Squeak to Yarn on the other hand was four years.

Epic Yarn sort of doesn't count since it wasn't initially conceived as a Kirby game, and the differences in gameplay shows. The cuteness of Kirby definitely shone through, though, and in the end the decision was probably for the best since I doubt Fluffy's Epic Yarn would have been much of a success otherwise. I was mostly speaking of the wait for a new console Kirby, though. We all got massively blueballed during the GameCube era. I still really miss some of the potential we saw in that prototype.

I get you. Kirby has always had weird spin-offs anyways, so I would've been cool with seeing one in the direct anyway. I still remember being hyped as fuck for Rainbow Curse when it got announced. I liked Rainbow but it was definitely because of the aesthetic more than anything else. The lack of Copy abilities even though they did it in Canvas was disappointing.

Shit, I was wondering what I was forgetting. No copy abilities was a huge bummer. You couldn't even fucking play as anyone else like in Canvas Curse, just weird little amiibo costumes that you could only use once a day because fuck you, I guess. Speed was greatly reduced from Canvas Curse as well, which makes no sense. You'd think with the widescreen of the Wii U gamepad compared to the DS, they'd go way crazier with the rolling and speed-boosting shenanigans.

Level design is easy: rooms connected by doors. The problem comes from the minimalist controls. I don't think they'll be too complex personally. Y is attack. B is jump; hold to hover. X lets Kirby hold what he inhales/remove ability; can also put what Kirby is holding back in mouth. A is context. A lets Kirby sprint, pick up things, drop things, open doors, press buttons, etc. zL/L* is crouch, swallows, and drop pound. L centers camera. zR/R* is guard. Right stick tilts camera at intervals like Mario 3D world. Rooms use a semi-fixed camera that can be rotated freely. Clicking stick centers camera.

*sL and sR are used in single joycon play. To tilt camera in single joycon mode hold stick and press face buttons.

+ and - are menu. D-buttons are map shortcuts and amiibo.

I'm sure we can simplify it a bit more by removing the mouth and context buttons. Could run like Smash by tapping stick.

I messed up on L centering camera. That's a left over from editing. The game will be made with single joycon play. To center camera click right stick. Or in single joycon play by pressing all four buttons at once. The camera can be tilted full 360 degrees at eighth intervals laterally. There will be five levels of tilt for vertical. Rooms and enemies will be designed in a way that you won't have to tilt the camera much. Boss battles will have fixed cinematic cameras. Think of Kirby playing like a 3D smash bros game with two extra buttons.

Aside from a cryptic comment from the devs about Star Allies being too ambitious (Which is kind of silly because it's a pretty lazy game) I don't see how Kirby is over.

I think so. But my idea is to have exploring to be as fun as combat. The game will have a map and rooms will be interconnected. There's even some verticality in some places. That's why you can rotate the camera semi-freely. There might be something hidden behind that wall if you change your perspective.

Levels had to be ridiculously expansive and easy to accommodate the maximum 4 players. Regular enemies in Kirby haven't actually been a challenge since about 2-3 generations ago. Game absolutely showers you with lives. The abilities keep getting cooler and more OP but the enemies are pretty much the same as the old Game Boy games.

Amazing Mirror, Canvas Curse, Mass Attack and Crystal Shards are decently challenging.
But I wish Extra Mode-like difficulty wasn't locked until you completed the game.

Maybe, maybe not. It's hard to tell if the game is even canon. But considering how much the Ancients are responsible for (the Clockwork Stars, the Fountain of Dreams and the Star Rod, etc.), it seems likely.

The stuff the Ancients were responsible for are really specific (the Halcandra stuff, plus the NOVA/Fountain system). It probably isn't a good idea to just assume any ancient cursed artifact was crafted by these guys.
Plus, we basically already got the Ancients' game, and it took 7 years before even that happened. Unless Halcandra is in the next game, we probably won't get that much info for a while except maybe Galacta and the three other heroes

That's a fair point, for all we know he could just take the form of anyone he attaches himself to. Maybe we'll eventually get a idea of his true form in the future though I do have a theory that whatever race Kirby, Meta Knight and Galacta Knight, etc. are is descendent from the ancients.
