what do we think of it
Triangle Strategy demo
Octopath good, artsyle good. I'll wait for it to come to pc to torrent
Absolute ludo
excited for the survey and the full game
How good is the writing? Octopath has shitty writing so wasn't worth playing. But i think the style lends itself better to an srpg than a jrpg so it looks really interesting
what will you tell them user
I think my only complaint so far is that the camera view can be ass when there are high structures like in the first level
octopath doesn't have shit writing. Fucking retard
It is ok. Pretty mediocre if you compare it to TO: LUCT and FFT.
bit too early to say, we've only got the basic plot. the dialogue is a bit long-winded
I wish they had less bloom on the pixels, shit is ridiculous
Needs a PS5 release.
this and the excessive filters are pretty bothersome, I'm worried they won't change it because it's the same stuff from octopath
I absolutely hate filters and particle effects in pixel games. Part of the appeal of pixel art are limited palettes and palette cycling, and there's more harmony in the colors because they're limited. When you suddenly have this light source like a torch, it turns all of those colors into mush and it looks ugly. Like if you played a 3D adventure game and in the character only moved in four directions with no inbetween.
bump
it's a nice demo
I think it looks great, but now that I know it will come to PC eventually I'll just wait.
The demo is quite robust when it comes to the voting mechanics and the party member recruitment and I hope it keeps that up for the entire game for a huge variety in how the game plays out.
>4 recruitable characters. I only got 2 of them on my first playthrough
>persuading votes doesn't always work, even if you choose the samenoptions everytime, it seems that the other party members still have a little bit of their own rng to dtermine how they vote
There was a bunch of things, recruitable party members only existing in their pocket dimension is weird and I also have some things to say about the camera.
I would love for them to go all out with the choice/voting system and really encourage replayability even if it means that a single playthrough might be shorter.
There's a couple of other things that I am sure they'll change such as the spy getting basically double experience but I would also want them to implement something similar to canto from fire emblem where mounted units get to use their remaining amount of movement after going up to attack an enemy.
Overall I am sure that with the right changes they'll be able to make a truly fantastic game but I do like it even as it is right now.
It weirds me out that the chick flying on a giant bird and the dude on a horse have less movement range than other units.
Artstyle would be good in fucking 2008, it looks like a horrible indie game filtered through a cheap phone camera ai dof and with an outdated instagram filter slapped on top.
no idea about the prince but I think the bird's main point is the unobstructed movement
Do we know if we can multiclass? Is there a good and easy to use respec system? Is the equipment fun or is it just '+10 attack, +2evasion'? What about fun passive skills?
when the fuck are we gonna get a rerelease/virtual console/port of FFT though?
which version should I play if I want to emulate it?
Im tired of jrpg being the only genre japan is willing to play. Make something else you otaku fucks.
>multiclass
Given the UI, this is likely but isn't showcased in the demo
>respec
Unknown
>equipment
Again, not showcased in the demo. Characters have equipment but you can't touch it or even see what it does.
This is SquareEnix.
It is possible that this demo was made specifically for survey and that scenes we've seen will not appear in the final game (even though the demo states it's somehwere in the middle of the story), or that this is one of the
>what if
scenes that will be a result of our decisions so far. I'm not expecting 6000 branching points and different outcomes, but if our decisions will affect the story, decide who is gonna live and who is gonna die, decide what battle will occur, then my friends, we could get a really good game.
>passive skills
Yes. The spy can attack twice on her turn. The tank can counterattack. The advisor starts each battle with extra TP for his spells
>Playing demos
>Ruining the surprise of playing the game blind when it comes out
Why
What about octopath traveler? How was it when it comes to these points?
psp speedhack would be the easiest to setup
also a bit weird but >ios port
its a surprisingly good port
>proper touch control
>slow down fixed
>no altered graphic, so no ff6 disaster
I have an android, I guess I could just download the apk. iirc the ios and android ports are identical, no?
Octopath let you combine the skills of any two jobs at any time. Equipment was standard jrpg stuff. And each job had passive skills that were varying degrees of useful
Only one passive skill per class? standard jrpg equipment?
Fuck, why can't companies understand what was so good about final fantasy tactics?
id love growlanser psp tier of branching plot if they want to go balls deep, but luct 3 routes style is nice too. it still has the recruiting, big decision making points, small branches in a big route etc
and GOD what i would do for a luct port with higher definition hud and music
So I just found out about this. Is this anything like Tactics Ogre? Because that's my favorite game on the PSP.
Nah, each job usually had 6 or so active skills and 4 passive skills to learn. Same seems to be true for this game
it's a demo.
should be i think. just set up ppsspp on adroid is quite easy too, hack included, and then you'll also have the psp God tier lineup of trpg at your disposal
It's exactly like tactics ogre
Yeah, it's a demo, but if one goes by what they did in octopath traveler, it seems they don't get it.
I've never ever played Growlanser, and I have a feeling I missed something good.
While on the subject... is Langrisser good? I and II are on sale right now (on eShop), 30 euros is the price tag.
pretty much luct: now with terrain manipulation and combos
My list would be:
Allow to speed up battles, maybe an option to skip animations.
Add characters' portraits in dialogues, instead of hiding them behind X button
Fix camera
growlanser is pretty fun. think chrono trigger style of combat, but more tactic-styled. wayfarer of time is a good place to start if you want, or just go for release order
langrisser is a really nice phase-based trpg, and i actually like it more than FE for the sheer scale of its battles. but tb h the remastered graphic kinda put me off. still worth a playthrough imo, but not at that price
It's so much Tactics Ogre it hurts.
Roland and Frederica are basically your Catiua and Vyce.
I'll ask them to make Serenoa a bislut, like Byleth, so I could marry him either Frederica or Roland in the ending
Serenoa is literally already married to federica
Not quite. A character mentions that the invasion happened on the day they were going to get married so there may yet be a chance to have him end up with someone else, namely Medina or Anna
Thank you, user. I might try it then. (Growlanser, I mean)
Not just bethroded, but married already? Pretty cool, I don't remember many other games where you play as a married protagonist (not a widower)
Especially if alignment system would allow to bump her, like Roland.
Holding hands with Anna!
Well damn, looks like my weekend is saved after all.
I was surprised to learn she is a girl
Therion 2.0
>draw a boy
>call it a girl
seethe
I want to ask for more customization options and an option to go back to branching points in the story and replay the oposing outcome after finishing the game like Tactics Ogre. Also give characters at least 1 more move point to speed it up overall.
>Good
The actual gameplay mechanics, basically all of them.
Character art and designs.
>Iffy
Writing isn't bad, but seems poorly edited and long-winded. This isn't helped by the demo dropping you into the middle of an ongoing story, making it very difficult to actually give a shit about what's happening during the many long cutscenes.
Actual plot is extremely generic, but not bad.
Although the gameplay and mechanics are fun, the actual pace of combat can feel extremely sloggy. This could probably be improved a lot just by tweaking animation timings a bit.
>Bad
The graphics. I'm convinced anyone who actually likes this bloom pixels atheistic has some sort of horrible brain or eye problems.
Cutscene presentation is incredibly flat and boring, even by TRPG standards. Even just adding character talking portraits would do a lot for this.
The music actually kinda sucks, just boilerplate "epic" RPG fare. Octopath had a fantastic OST so this is probably the biggest letdown for me.
I hate the artstyle and didn't play Octopath because of it, however I'm a sucker for anything resembling Tactics Ogre - for those who've played the demo, does it scratch that itch?
Yes
Better than Octopath, for sure. But maybe that's just because of voice acting
I'm going to say yes, but at the same time, almost any none FE strategy game would scratch that itch at this point
>fuck shit up
>go stealth
I love Anna
Do you start as a neutral side then join 3 sides later on or something?
It'd be great if there is a route for neutral side like a mad man, basically radical centrist reincarnated.
