Modern games with SOUL

Most arguments against the dichotomy of soulless/soul say that it is merely nostalgia that blinds the player and makes him remember something as being better than it actually was.
This argument presupposes that modern games can't have soul (as the element of nostalgia is missing from a game you've recently played).
So, can we post some modern games that have soul?
I'll start with Outer Wilds which, imho, is a game everyone should play.

Those badly fitting pants are the only reason I can tell this is real life and not kojimakino

Games made after 2015 that have soul:
>Assassin's Creed Odyssey
>Uncharted 4
>Jurassic World Evolution (but only with all DLC)
>Black Mesa (if you count its 2015 steam early access release and not the 2012 original mod)
>Doom Eternal
>Terminator: Resistance
>Project: Warlock
>Rage 2
>Return of the Obra-Dinn
>Apotheon
>Friday the 13th (if you count multiplayer games)
>LEGO Jurassic World
>Sniper Elite 4
>South Park: The Fractured But Whole
>Star Wars Battlefront 2015
Now I'm not necessarily saying that these are great games, but they all have at least some SOVL, though some are more SOVLFVL than others

>South Park
Not really soul, but also not soulless. Kind of a middle ground.
>Doom Eternal
No
>Friday the 13th
Absolute not, Dead by Daylight is better in everyway and that game is pure shit.
>Battlefront
Found the corporate shill.

Rain World, INFRA, Underrail.

How does one quantify soul? Is it just "thing I like?"

Bugsnax

I think if you dilute it as much as possible, soul would simply be "passion" (it is obviously still difficult to quantify) but it is easily tangible in works of art (be they games or books) that weren't made for a paycheck (compare annual Call of Duty vs., f.ex., Cave Story or any other indie passion project).
Obviously, soul is inherently a flawed concept (as you accurately point out) but I still like to use it nonetheless as it is an easy way to separate shovelware games from games with interesting concepts and design choices (even if those might be flawed).

Old + Nostalgia = Soul

The only modern game I have played that has soul is Factorio

Have you even read any post in this thread, or even the OP, my lazy friend.

A short hike is very soulful and is potentially the only easy game I really like
Also these

Mad rat dead.

Agreed. That’s a game I was constantly trying to explore more in.

>Assassin's Creed Odyssey
The complete antithesis of soul. Focus tested, formula following, derivative, Ubisoft game
