Character design is important for conveying who a character is and what they're like. Pyra and Mythra's design don't convey to me that they're supposed to be some ancient legendary weapons with incredible power, all it tells me it's that they most likely suck cocks in back alleys for a nickel.
I'm going to let you in on a secret.
When an artist draws a character, any character, they draw them naked, first.
Then they draw clothes around them, erase the naked body, and layer on some details.
But if the character is wearing something skin-tight, you can skip the erasing step, and just layer details on top. This is why every superhero wears spandex, because it makes them easier and faster to draw.
So the next time you see a vidya character in a skintight suit with lots of lines and ornaments on it, remember that the artist isn't being a perv, he's just using shortcuts to make his job a little easier.
