I knew they'd do this shit eventually their CEO has zero background in video games.
She came from a company that handles gambling and she was a specialist in getting long term gains from customers.
Isn't there a crusader kings 3?
You can't buy it anymore? The fuck?
The base game has been free for months now
>our game is now subscription based
>THAT'S SOME SUPER COOL STUFF
>CONVENIENT!
>AFFORDABLE!
>NO NEED TO WEIGH WHICH ITEMS TO PURCHASE!
What does someone who writes that shit expect? This doesn't sound good. I used to work in a call center for a brief period and I am aware of what this is supposed to be - using nice words and excited intonation is a legitimate selling technique. But there are limits to how shit can something be for you to be able to successfully portray as good. This text just doesn't work, those "cool" words combined with the actual message create too strong a congitive dissonance. Maybe if it was a video recording of someone speaking, maybe then it could work (because intonation enters the picture and it's a powerful tool) but this is just text.
It's like someone has heard from a third party that that's how you sell shit but didn't bother to read Marketing 101.
Yeah but it's soulless garbage and plays like a shitty gacha game compared to CKII which is where all the mods, memes and kino is
Eu4 had a subscription service for awhile now.
do people actually buy paradox games?
Doesn't sound that bad to me.
I mean the game has like $200 worth of DLC so $5 for a month's access seems like a good deal.
Kinda surprised those Train Simulator games don't have a similar deal.
This is how it starts.
"It" started in 2010 with Gamefly you nitwit
I generally buy them for five bucks for easy access to updates and the workshop, then pirate all the dlc
Unironically only retards and autists.
Games as subscription service is here and you helped make it happen Dab Forums
Are you retarded?
It's 9 years old game, with sequel already out
So, instead of buying it all for 200$, you can just pay 5$ month, play and move on
Delusional faggots itt seething at paradox being a pro-consumer company. I can't believe how anti-paradox shills to this day scream and cry over minor imperfections in otherwise very enjoyable and quality products like HOI4, CK3 and Imperator: Rome. The fact that anons like would consider piracy a legitimate method of playing these games is truly sickening, small, family-owned companies like Paradox need our financial support, and it really goes to show that Johan was right, you guys are just as devoid of morality as pedophiles. I mean, imagine going to the extent of pirating DLC for CK2, imagine actually going to the lengths of clicking on a mega link, downloading the compressed DLC folder, unzipping it and then copy/pasting its contents into steam\steamapps\common\Crusader King II. You pedos are truly morally repulsive

disgusting
It's not important how old the game or its expansions are, how much they cost, how much does a subscription cost, what is the quality of the game or its expansions. I never talked about that. I talked about the text being badly written. It starts with a promise of something super cool (which gets the reader excited) and then immediately tells you "it's a subscription service for our game/s, haha" (which disappoints the reader). The buildup is both too strong (it's SUPER cool) and too short (three words). It's followed by an extremely un-exciting premise. It's a fucking subscription. Even without all the bad associations with subscription services that already exist in games, it's not exciting. It's a subscription. At the very best that can be neutral (it's not). It's not super cool. It's not even cool.
Then there are concrete numbers which are too small (nothing even reaches 20, this is pathetic). You use numbers when you have hundreds or thousands of something, not tens. Nobody gets excited for tens, regardless of what do they get tens of. They should have went with abstract descriptors like "numerous" or "many".
At this point you're just not excited but then they hit you with "not having to weigh which items you would prefer to purchase". That sounds really bad because it brings attention to the fact that it removes choice and preference. That's not how you sell an option. You talk about convenience, about everything being within an arm's reach, but for the love of God you never suggest even in the slightest bit that "choice" or "prefer" gets diminished. You use those words if you give someone choices or preferences they never had, but if you remove the choice (or give the option to remove the choice) you don't use those words at all. This line is the single worst line from marketing point of view in the entire text.
1/2
2/2
And then they add that if you stop subscription you LOSE ALL the stuff that you had access to (exceptt free base game), which is of course obvious and reasonable but shouldn't be there because it mentions a loss. It should be in a separate FAQ page and not the announcement.
how do I use this
Lol I only buy the base Paradox games then pirate the DLC
>Decides to purchase the content instead of paying a sub
What's the problem again?
>What's the problem again?
you being retarded
interesting idea, but I'm curious how much it is.
I realistically think I would be okay paying $5 a month for as long as I played it, which would probably be a couple months at a time.
It still costs like fucking $60 to get everything on sale, considering I play like 2 months out of the year, could be fine.
If it's anything above that though? fuck that. I get ck3 basically free with extreme discounts from games pass.
Where does one find just the DLC for other games?
The game isn't even supported anymore. It won't get any new content.
Rurin
This is a good take. You can still buy all the DLC individually. This is just so people don't have to pay 200 for a game they will play for two months tops, which means 10 bucks at most.
