literally who
>the came
Huh?
I mean if I was an independent gamedev without some company funding my ass to keep maintenance going then I'd want to get paid too.
are people actually upset about paid expansions? the fuck? Would you really prefer microtransactions out the ass
OP is a fag as usual.
factorio.com
They just hired the dev behind the space exploration mod
>What is space exploration?
mods.factorio.com
His mod allows you to easily travel to other planets/stars and includes tons of new art and tech to research.
He's also made a mod that adds programmable vehicles into the game and allows you to control them like an RTS.
so how exactly does that work, because the space expl mod guy is still taking patreon money and updating that mod right? So does that mean the expansion isn't going to be similar at all or wtf is he doing?
here come the shills for their silly came
why not make it so $20 +$10 across the year is always $20?
They hired him as a concept artist so who knows.
Just pirate the game if you're poor. Nobody would care
despite their work ethic and ability to capture lightning in a bottle, the devs for factorio can be really bad at having no idea what they're working towards until it just kinda happens organically
they had all kinds of plans for space, campaign, etc. that slowly evolved and changed until it was ultimately scrapped. I bet they have no idea what they're going to do and the only reason they hired that modder is because he's shown proficiency at working on the game already
so everyone, hopes and dreams for expansion? main focus as well as any other side additions you want to see?
for me I want some more lategame tech so there is a use for white science besides the infinite stuff and providing some post game goal with massive factories needed. maybe do the whole space stuff but keep it confined to the one world. so you can launch a rocket and land it 2 million tiles away in a frozen biome or something and start a second factory there. maybe you get access to different kinds of resources in theses areas and the biters have adapted to these climates making new enemy types?
Entitled fucks, simple as. Factorio has been receiving content updates for free for how long now?
And it's only one fucking dev.
enh, to be fair it's been receiving updates because it wasn't done yet. 1.0 only came out a few months ago
>And it's only one fucking dev
it was 3 devs from the very start, I think koverax did the majority of the work, but in the past few years they expanded and have a full studio now. factorio made quite a bit of money so they aren't hurting, but a studio of 15 people is expensive to maintain and if you had the choice of no more updates ever or updates every couple years but it costs money, well, I think we all prefer more options
I hope buying base factorio for access to the mods downloads and then pirating the expansions will work.
expansion is like 2 years away at this point. don't even worry about it
considering what amount of content is considered a "big update" in factorio there is no way this "expansion" is going to be worth the asking price.
>i'll never buy factorio, it never goes on sale!
>waits 5 years to save $5
Are people really this poor?
You have no idea how principles work, right?
>My principal is to never buy items that aren't arbitrarily on sale no matter what other logic may factor in
To each their own
the principle of only buying a game on sale though doesn't really make sense in this case. when it's triple A garbage that you only slightly care about then sure, not paying $60 is fine, but when the game is $30 and provides way more value, then what exactly is your principle based on?
Yeah, principles is how you manipulate dumb people easily.
Oh snap, those kike companies manipulated me into not buying full price games.
Oh yeah those kike companies are really bad and mean and we're totally not like that bro! We're the good guys selling you what you want.
>full price
Yes that's the trick
I don't mind the idea of an expansion being a larger scale update to kick things off, to further support development. I don't expect anything to be entirely free anymore, and if factorio continues putting out decently sized updates at a regular pace, I'm happy throwing another tenner down per year.
i hope it EXPANDS into 3d and first person and becomes Minecraft. I want to play it in Minecraft, that is all.
