Wasted potential: the game

Its the best RE game in the series, cope and dilate nigger.

Shit decisions made. They could’ve made this game so much better.

>Introduce a ton of NPCs only to kill them all within two minutes, you were obviously supposed to spend more time in the village
>Get locked out of the castle after killing Alcina even though every other place lets you go back for items and you even unlock the ability to lower the drawbridge after grabbing Moreau's crank
>Doll house, while speedrunning, takes 15 minutes, essentially RE8's equivalent to the 17 minute intro from RE7. There's no challenge, it's not interesting gameplay, and will suck on repeat playthroughs
>All First Aid Meds heal you to full health and ammo is plentiful. Played game on Hardcore first and I was swimming in ammo/explosives/meds except for one point in the Factory
>Village of Shadows, unlike Madhouse from RE7, is a meme difficulty designed for you to spam unlimited ammo grenade launchers at chokepoints
Still a great game but there's several issues both minor and major

>doesn't take horror far enough to be scary
>doesn't take combat far enough to be fun
>doesn't take exploration far enough to feel like RE
This game doesn't know what it wants to be. Seems like it was originally supposed to be way more non-linear but they had to scale back at some point.

>>Introduce a ton of NPCs only to kill them all within two minutes, you were obviously supposed to spend more time in the village
Same as RE2 and RE2 Remake, new character met already dying and within a short period of time he is a zombie trying to kill you. Other character you meet down in the basement pretty much dies not long after.
>>Get locked out of the castle after killing Alcina even though every other place lets you go back for items and you even unlock the ability to lower the drawbridge after grabbing Moreau's crank
You also get locked out of the main part of the game when you go to the lab in RE2, you're not creating threads crying about that though. If you explored properly the first time you won't need to go back.
>>Doll house, while speedrunning, takes 15 minutes, essentially RE8's equivalent to the 17 minute intro from RE7. There's no challenge, it's not interesting gameplay, and will suck on repeat playthroughs
Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbut muh puzzle, the puzzles in the doll house literally shit all over the crap RE2 Remake delivered. They weren't focusing on puzzle simulators because nobody buys RE for that and the gameplay practically is better than every other RE game apart from maybe 4 and possibly 5.
>>All First Aid Meds heal you to full health and ammo is plentiful. Played game on Hardcore first and I was swimming in ammo/explosives/meds except for one point in the Factory
Same can be said for any RE game if you manage ammo well, not an argument.
>>Village of Shadows, unlike Madhouse from RE7, is a meme difficulty designed for you to spam unlimited ammo grenade launchers at chokepoints
Basically its too hard for you to do it without unlimited ammo and you're admitting this to everyone, okay....

>7 was my first RE game btw

The only RE game I liked is 4. I played 7 for about 20 minutes and turned it off.
Would I like 8?
Andrew Cox
RE1 (1996) actually, just not a nostalgia faggot like yourself who can't see how things can improve from days of old.

Truthfully, no.

LOL its one of the greatest "horror" games ever made, and the Cyber-tranny devs should literally KILL THEMSELVES on live tv in comparison.
RE8 might be the definitive "first-person story-mode game" money can buy. Nothing is better. The end.

maybe. it kinda is RE4 2

It sucks cuz Chris never became an uncle

>Same as RE2 and RE2 Remake, new character met already dying and within a short period of time he is a zombie trying to kill you.
Holy fuck not even going to touch the rest of these points but you are already being fucking retarded. You are comparing a single character who was already dying when the player arrives to an entire cast of characters dying in a single sequence. The comparison to RE2make is even more asinine because Marvin is alive with you for a good chunk of the game, which makes him dying hit harder because you actually got to spend some time with him.
The game is called "Village" and the trailers teased a shit ton of characters only for the main game to kill off the vast majority of them the first scene they are introduced. There was no reason not to at least keep 1 or 2 characters alive, especially elena who might have the most forced and unnecessary death I have seen for any character in any medium. The way RE8 handled these deaths comes off as cheap shock value.

I just got to the factory and I'm inclined to agree. I was never one of the people raging about first-person, but after 7 and now 8, I think I'm ready for them to drop it and go back to third-person. I think one of the things that feels better about third-person is that while they keep the relatively slow player movement in both perspectives, not being able to see the actual attacks from enemies in your periphery coming just feels a lot worse. It makes it easier to plan how you're going to juke past enemies in third person when you can see more.
