why havent you started grinding chess yet user? you'll never get a title at this rate.
Why havent you started grinding chess yet user? you'll never get a title at this rate
I dropped to rank 300 and then gave up.
Because I am too much of a brainlet for something like this.
What the fuck is the point of playing chess online when anyone can easily cheat by using AI sofrware and wreck the GMs?
This desu. Anytime someone online challenges me in chess I just pull up Lichess analysis board and pick close to optimal positions. If you choose the most optimal each time you'll get flagged for cheating sometimes. It's nice winning every time. You can do the same with connect 4.
Because it's a figured out memory game
>start playing a game that robots can already play better than us .
No thanks user.
because go is more fun.
>memory game
>more possible chess games than atoms in the known universe
because I played 500+ games and I'm still competing with people who have played 10 games.
More possible variations/moves, not games. And still computers will beat/draw every GM every time. It's literally a figured out game. Play Go or fucking Starcraft.
if chess was solved then how come computers are able to beat eachother whether as white or black. your logic seems to fall flat on itself.
Granted, figured out insofar humans are concerned. I guess eventually we'll just have super clever AI playing draws for all eternity until the sun burns out or something.
>figured out, insofar humans are concerned
but when two humans play they always reach new positions, and are able to win over eachother. so how is it relevent that machines are stronger, atleast for competitive play?
Go player here. The computers beat the humans at that game too, check out AlphaGo
If computers being better than human players makes a game figured out or solved then basically every game without a physical component is as well. With the exception of GO.
Just makes it kinda pointless I guess. Imagine there were world class robot composers or violinists that far outshine any humans, I feel it'd take the fun out of it.
Oh yeah I read about that, does it beat humans reliably/every time?
the playstyles of engines differ from players anyways. so from a spectator perspective the games from magnus or any other top player cant be replicated by engines which gives them their own uniqueness. therefore its not pointless.
I only do this if I made an obvious missclick and my opponent declines my takeback. Fucking nigger, you're getting destroyed now.
It makes me feel like a dumb dumb
Chess is like 80% rote memorization of opening theory, isn't it? I struggle to think more than 4-5 moves ahead. Even that is a stretch.
You have to learn opening theory. The first several moves in chess games have all been studied deeply for many years now. You can't play chess like it's just a regular board game. The people who have the early possibilities memorized will wipe the floor with you.
I suck at chess but even I know that.
someone watched the queens gambit and wants to be cool, are chess fag the new magic trick / magicianfags?
Because it's not very fun.
>go
based
>go
based
are chesslets just afraid of the superior elegance of go? what's the matter, board too big? strategy too vague?
I used to think the word "gambit" was related to "gamble", but it isn't. It seems like it would be though.
