>illegal wire tapping operations are okay when we do it
Why are conservatives so evil and lawless?
Twitter Bans fascist propaganda group Project Veritas for spreading lies and doxing
The right to privacy is protected under the 4th ammendment of the constitution.
Project Veritas is the only reason we know about things like the blacklisting of conservative sites from Google searches. They are biased but so is every other news organization.
I guess the social media giants have the green-light now to continue the full-scale suppression of dissenting views.
unless you're a conservative. Then people can steal and leak anything they know about you.
NYT is gonna win another Pulitzer for getting access to Trump's tax records.
IIRC they lie about what their cover was. For instance, they tell the target that they're a defense attorney but then in the video claim they were posing as a mobster. This wold change the context in which every conversation is viewed, for instance an innocuous discussion about legal procedure suddenly turns into a shady organization giving tips to the mob. It's these techniques that ended with them losing a defamation lawsuit against ACORN.
They also use deceptive editing, such as altering the order of events or removing context. For instance their NPR video cuts out lines such as "yes we take private donations [but do not expect to receive control over our programming]" and "we even take anonymous donations [but you need to go through a significant vetting process with the feds]." The bracketed statements massively change the connotation, and were of course left out of the video.
Do you have a right to use twitter? If yes, you better nationalize twitter and make it a public utility because otherwise it's a private platform that has its own first amendment privileges. It's the same reasoning for why you can't force a baker to make cakes for a gay wedding: you can't use your free speech rights to overwrite another person's free speech rights.
The issue is fairly simple. NYT published his alleged tax records knowing full well that Trump could sue them for libel. But for Trump to sue them and win that case he would have to provide his tax records in his defense. 8D chess.
>because otherwise it's a private platform that has its own first amendment privileges.
It's not a platform if Twitter employees remove content that they find objectionable that do not violate the terms of use. They then have the same legal liabilities as other publishers
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States...shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; [corprations and NGO's are exempt from this but it may be used to punish people who post memes on Twitter]
So why isn't NYT banned from Twitter for violating its private information policy like Project Veritas?
Except they're removing content that violates the ToS.
It just so happens that conservatives are much more likely to violate the ToS because they're psychopaths.
Consider the fact that Trump had special protection from being banned and he still managed to do something to get himself banned, that's how terrible conservatives are.
