I don't want to offend third world countries but the U.S. is becoming one.

yeah its a winter storm. this stuff happens. the MSM never made it a big deal against california when they had nonstop rolling blackouts during all their fires. maybe they should be looking into that instead of pointing the finger.

Meh.
This has been the norm here in California for the last few years or so, since 2018. That was the year PG&E burned down an entire town and killed nearly 100 people because of the states mismanagement
They shut off electricity to parts of the state 10-20 times a year every time it gets windy so that PG&E doesn't murder more people.. it's cheaper than investing in infrastructure or battling wrongful death suites.

I'm sure those 14 states will adjust

fire up those space heaters texas, the system isn't going to get any stronger if we don't exercise it!

californian here, I don't really feel liberals have a right to laugh at other states when we experience rolling black out literally every day due to the massive mismanagement and focus on environmentalism that has run rampant in this shithole state.

Seething Texans who never even touched the sierra nevadas wrote these posts.

Thanks for posting the article fucknuts, they won't let you read with an ad blocker.

Arizonian here. I'm laughing at both of you faggots.

Assuming you're not just larping for the troll, (You) need to get the fuck out of California. Your presence is lowering the average IQ of the entire state by several points. Nothing in your post is connected to Reality, just more Q spewage.

Is it bad that the thought of Americans freezing to death makes me horny

Above room temp IQ here. Stop this reddit formatting and cope.

I hope you get paid well.

Isn't just a lot of the trouble that Texas and other southern states' power grids just aren't prepared for extra cold winters? I know one guy was saying the rains coupled with freezing temperatures were just outright causing some power lines to snap, but I don't know what else has gone on.

At any rate, I learned my lesson after Harvey and just bought a generator, I already have a propane tank for my heater and stove, so I figured it'd be smart to invest in an LP generator to at least run my fridge in case the power goes out again. Winter's a lot less of a problem since my furnace can run without electricity, but keeping food cold after a hurricane is a bigger deal.

Yes. To put it in perspective, the southernmost point of texas was at the freezing point, and that's with the moderation of the gulf of mexico.

Its not JUST a winter storm. It's huge ass winter storm.

The bigger question is if they learn from it.

The penis wants what it wants. Go get some frozen disaster movie rule 34.

If you think think Texas is joining the federal grid, think again.

I doubt anything will come of it, unless Texas continues to get repeated winter storms like this. The cost of redoing the power grid in Texas to harden it against excessively freezing temperatures isn't exactly worth the cost unless it's a yearly recurrence with at least a couple of weeks each year.

Houston, Austin, etc. might see improvements, but outside of the cities, it's unlikely.

There's LOTS of shit beyond that. Having a designated "warm room", with a lot more insulation, that's easier to keep warm. Maybe redoing tornado shelters. Maybe churches being designated shared areas in case of extreme emergency.

Hardening some of the hospitals against this.

Better forecasting.

Texans are very indepenence minded, so things like "Blizzard kits", sort of like hurricane emergency supplies may be a thing with generators, and quickly deployable weatherproofing and shit like that.

>Texas has the capacity to generate enough power to prevent rolling blackouts.
>Federal government says it can't do that without violating pollution laws.
>Drags their feet and lets 4 million Texans be without power, even leading to fatalities, because of it.

If anything, it goes to show the fed has more concern for its own agendas than its people. energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2021/02/f82/DOE 202(c) Emergency Order - ERCOT 02.14.2021.pdf

You mean the private company that kept pushing up gas pressure to service more homes, whilst never carrying out maintenance? Yeah that one. Fuck me.

It's Bidens fault

Chinna!

It's all Biden's fault.

nice try trumpies, this is because of GOP leadership

>Isn't just a lot of the trouble that Texas and other southern states' power grids just aren't prepared for extra cold winters?
pretty much, also a lot of the bitching being made by "texans" are really californian transplants who never had to deal with extreme weather of any kind. My friend who moved out from here to Austin is panicking because he has never been snowed in before and doesnt know what he will do if he loses power. As a Californian people from here are completely naïve with how the world works and think because they have gone on vacation once or twice that they know how to live and adapt to other places.

>You mean the private company that kept pushing up gas pressure to service more homes, whilst never carrying out maintenance? Yeah that one. Fuck me.
Yeah that one
the one that the state responsibly manages with the California energy board, you know the same energy board where all the board members own large shares of PG&E. Yeah that one

Governor Abbot just said that 10% of capacity Igor Texas is wind generated and they are froze up.
