Republicans: Ted Cruz Is a Hero for Flying to Cancún as Texans Freeze to Death

You see a callous politician who doesn’t give a shit about his constituents. They see a guy who should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

i agree.. he is a hero and every texan should blow him and lick his balls for 5 or more generations into the future because without him there would be no freezing at all.

He's not a hero, but Beto isn't either. My family did just fine, even with the power having been out for 48 hours. That's what Texas is supposed to be all about - rugged individualism. And a bunch of limp wristed transplants found out that they couldn't handle a couple of utilities being out, and immediately clamored for more government.

The only way I'd vote for Beto is if he was personally pedaling a bike for a generator while my power was out.

Yippeee kaiyeee! You'all is just like 'dem Texans who came back from the Civil War to nothing and rounded up stray cattle from the mesquite brush and drove them thousands of miles to market. Meanwhile, your claim to fame is yelling up the basement stairs to tell your mommy to "hurry up wit' 'dem dagnabbed tendies, I'm hoooonggggry!"

>Keep rollin', rollin', rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them dogies rollin', rawhide
Through rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride

>My family did just fine
translated from typical republican, this meaans "if it didnt happen to me, it never happened".

Not my fault if thousands of idiots choose to live in cheaply built apartments and then end up getting shafted because they're not allowed to fix anything themselves or even have a backyard where they can run a grill to cook food, boil water, etc. What the fuck was Cruz going to do about it anyway?

There is this thing called personal responsibility, and that does mean planning ahead for when things don't go well. I did it. Why couldn't they?

1. Not everyone has access to the same resources you do
2. Not everyone can live "self-sufficiently" and rely on the government to provide basic infrastructure
3. see Item 1.

Well they should leave texas then. This is a state for the rough and tumble, the country boys who survive. We do things different down here. Dont like it? Leave it. Maybe tell all the california transplants who flee their shithole to this great state to never come here in the first place

>We do things different down here.

You do things real dumb.

Which cow down at the holding pen you fancy tonight, Maverick ol' buddy, Bossy or Bessie? I got my eye on Clarabelle, she lookin' mighty fine!

Yep, so y'all should never come here. Texas is just the worst, you should move somewhere else. Definitely not here where its just so awful, please for your own sake stay away.

what's worse is all those people that fled Katrina only to get frozen, they should get free transport to california, new york, or africa, their choice

It was. They tried running grills, cars, and generators in doors. I'm not sure how they didn't realize the issue, I've run my car in the garage and realized it wasn't venting pretty quickly by how light headed it made me feel.

Some people are just stupid

Why did no one turn their water off at the street during this storm? I thought this was a common sense thing to do when the weather drops that far below freezing. 90% of the damage caused by winter storms can easily be avoided if lazy fucks took the time to learn how to maintain their own homes.

>Please pay no attention to how our elected officials and those in control of our infrastructure are not subject to the same behavioral norms
Well, Ted sure got out quick.

It dropping that far below freezing isn't common for Texans, hence it isn't common sense for us. Everyone just drips their faucets and wraps their pipes, and that usually works.

You can't just shut the water off at the main you sperge, you have to bleed the pipes as well. Do you even /diy/?

If only people could see this clearly. Ted Cruz is holds office at FEDERAL level, but Texas's grid is isolated from the rest of the continental US' grid ostensibly to prevent federal regulation. The real answer is that the STATE politicians need to be held accountable, but everyone's dogpiling on Cruz because he's the most visible entity, even though he had really nothing to do with the problems nor the solutions. Nobody pays attention to their state politics though, and so nothing ever gets better.

Ted Cruz is a sleazy piece of shit who deserves every single bit of that grief he's been getting. Let's not lose sight of this simple fact.

Who also tried to kill his dog in freezing temps with no additional food and a frozen water bowl.
