I understand if you’re just not interested in seeing the Snyder Cut...

>Thor already tried to do the dark, serious space fantasy with The Dark World and people *hated* it

STOP FUCKING LYING.
I am sick of this asanine gaslighting retcon horseshit.

Dark World wasn't disliked because it was serious it was disliked because...
> It had TOO MUCH COMEDY especially in the final third.
> It had the worst villain of the Mcu.
> Portman was the weakest love interest of the Mcu and nothing of note was done with the romance or her in the film.

*Sci fi
Serves me right for being a phoneposting fuckwit.
I am low key gonna start saying sci do instead though, because that did make me crease

Why so angry, guy. It's a discussion about goofy movies on a Thai sock-hemming forum.

100 times this.

Not that user but maybe you're both right? Now I think about it, TDW wasn't as edgy as I remember. Maybe the problem is that the gloomy tone was the most memorable part of the film due to the reasons you cited, and that's why we remember it that way?
I actually kind of enjoyed that movie, but not enough to watch twice

Thor is my favorite comic character after Cap and my favorite stories of his are dead serious.

Thor Disassembled in particular shows a Ragnarok that isn't prevented and it's among the most beautiful tragic comics I have ever read. Pic related.

Them taking the litteral apocalypse of the gods and making it into a spoof/parody was a crime against the character & fans.

I am actually ok with Thor himself being fun (up to a point), my primary problem is with the rest of the film around him being spoof-ish.

And its getting even worse for me as the next film will partially adapt my other favorite Thor story God Butcher/Bomb almost certainly also with the parody tone.

I will share my full pros/cons list for Ragnarok in a second.

There is no pattern of consistent behavior in these films.
Batfleck & Cavillman act completely different from both each other and Leonidas or Niteowl.

I remember absolute nothing but people complying about the quips/jokes interrupting the final battle, same with Age of Ultron.

Fair enough, I can see why you'd be mad about this.
Can you recommend a Thor reading list? I have only read God Butcher/Bomb. Incidentally, that was a stunning run of comics. How did Aaron drop the ball so hard after that? Has he written anything else good?

RAGNAROK

CONS!

> The film has zero emotional weight after Odin's death. The Guardians films get away with their humor because before Infinity War they had the most emotional impact of the entire Mcu. This had none of that balance. The entire time I was watching Ragnarok I was saying to myself "Gunn could have done this so much better".
> The humor is unbearably awkward and fake feeling, like a bad SNL skit. It went genuinely into Scary Movie/Movie 42 spoof vibe territory. The scenes with the Grandmaster especially.
> Hela is just as flat a villain as Malekith or Ronan but is given a pass because she is alot more badass then them.
> The sets and outfits on Sakaar look disgustingly cheap. Instead of celebrating the mythos (like aquaman did) and bringing Jack Kirby's designs to life they literally use his art as fucking wallpaper.
> Valkyrie looks and acts nothing like any version of the character in the comics.
> Surtur in the comics is a dark apocalyptic figure as menacing as Galactus, here he is a god damn joke.
> A major complaint against the first 2 films was them doing nothing with the warriors 3 and this film does the same but full on kills them off. People give Snyder crap for killing off Jimmy Olsen in Bvs but give this a pass, hypocritical cunts.
> Doctor Strange is wasted.
> Jeff Goldblum is wasted.
> Ruffalo is wasted.
> Karl Urban / Skurge is wasted and his death (one of the most emotionally powerful in all of comics) is done as a afterthought.
> The destruction of Asgard is given little to no weight. We could have gotten something tragic & beautiful but they pissed in our faces instead.
