Casualties happen in basically every conflict, usually both on the civilian side as well as the soldier side. You can never keep everyone safe and it should be even more difficult when you have stuff like giant demons and hordes of smaller monsters roaming around. The demon could slip on the snow and kill dozens of people as it falls down.

There are some rumors about the March announcement being a movie. I figured it would be an original story, but with how rushed this arc seems it might actually be similar to the Kimetsu train movie. We're 10 chapters in and all that's left are the kids defeating their Triad enemies and then a boss battle against the 2 devils. You could turn 20 chapters into a fast paced movie.

Yeah they're basically another set of pointless characters created to make Clover look good in comparison. Like what would change if Ralph was the only surviving member of the resistance and the rest didn't exist at all? They acted as bait but that's totally meaningless because Spade would still dish out the demon to keep the Clover knights busy either way. The only one who might still salvage things is the old guy who acts as their leader, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything so probably not.

They weren't created for Clover to look good, they're just there to show that some Spade citizens wanted to resist the tyranny of the Triad and that they were in contact with Nacht. That's pretty much it.

Because he uses these chapters as transition chapters to slow things down. Fight will always be the main thing about the series. And people have been asking for the resistance to at least do something and it's cool to see the devil designs.

Characters are rarely interesting the moment they are introduced, that's something that has to be built up by allowing new characters to get some time in the spotlight so they can display their personalities and abilities. The reason why no one cares about the Spirit Guardians for example is because Tabata doesn't allow them to do anything that would make people like them All we get is the same characters doing the same things. Instead of showing us something completely new we get Leo using fucking spiral flame again or Charmy talking about food for the umpteenth time. New characters get totally shafted especially if they're not from Clover.

So 2 choices:
- regular magic can finish them off too. It'a a matter of power

Hopefully Tabata just drops the whole arcane concept entirely, along with the stage system. The series worked just fine before powerlevels were introduced. The devils are the strongest beings around and they already won't die unless the heart (which they can move around) is destroyed, so making it so that you also need arcane magic in addition to that just means that most characters are basically useless against them. Except for the MC of course, whose power conveniently cuts through magical creatures like butter.

The stage system was made to be shat on (and to make Yuno look cool for a glorious second). The arcane stages were introduced to make heart-clover alliance more sensible

People already made jokes months ago about a single very low ranked devil being able to destroy the entirety of Heart kingdom. They might be able to slow it down but eventually they'd run out of mana and the devil would kill them all.

I don't think you really know, either. Many characters came to their own definition of what arcane is. But any magic capable of interfering with the underworld/devils magic (ie.Zagred's and Megicula's magic etc) is arcane. Lumiere fits under that bill.

That's what happens when only a select few can defeat the enemy. Think of how only Naruto and Sasuke could seal Kaguya. The best that Sakura could do was stay out of Kaguya's way and throw one punch to wrap things up. Secre's role against Vanica was similar to that and she's one of the few arcanes around. That's what happens when you need both the correct gimmick power as well as a high powerlevel. Most characters are reduced from active participants to either minor hindrances or one trick ponies. It's only characters like Asta and Yami who can escape that trap at this point.

We saw how magic users used natural magic didn't have any effect unless it was magic capable of interfering with the underworld(eg. Asta, Yami, the dregs Yuno used to combine with his SoZ). We saw Patri's light magic didn't do jack shit until he tapped into his dark light magic.

Even if you don't consider Lumiere (and Licht) arcane, there is only, for now, you are either arcane or not.

You combine the two and most characters are either useless or only useful in a very specific situation. Look at the demon who has a similar but different gimmick going on. Both Kaiser and his team of knights as well as the Julius and Damnatio combo amounted to nothing while Asta soloed the thing in two hits. That's what you get when massive power is combined with a defensive gimmick. The few characters who can match both will have to carry while the others act as cheerleaders. That's why I'm saying the arcane stuff and magic stages should never have been introduced at all and if possible the whole thing should just be abandoned in the future.

Magitech hasn't displayed that kind of capabilities and angels are just nonsense at this point. A more likely scenario is that some characters upgrade their magic into arcane magic somehow. Licht, Lumiere and Patri managed to corrupt their magic and damage the tentacles so perhaps you could take that even further and become fully arcane. It would beg the question of why the arcane weakness was introduced if it was just going to be circumvented, but that's still better than having it around in its current capacity.

Now whine about how Luffy can oneshot Hokage Naruto because of Conqueror's Haki or how your average Shinigami can end Sasuke since the Sharingan can't detect Reiatsu.

It's not really a much better measure when Dante's magic had such a huge range and there was barely any place for her to set up her strings. Dante also depleted all of her mana completely. Yeah she was facing a powerful enemy and it could happen again, but during certain situation which she proved in the past she showed the ability to contribute.
